As we all know from experience, looks can be deceiving.

Nandi Bushell may look like a normal schoolgirl from a small county town in Suffolk, England.

However, do not be deceived—as she has something hidden under her sleeves. At her age, she could be playing house with her other girlfriends from school.

Instead, she picked up a strong interest in the kit.

Bushell has been honing her skills on the drums from a very young age, and now she’s confident enough to share her talent with the whole world.

Now, she is rocking on the internet by sharing her metal drum covers on her social media platforms, including her channel on YouTube with currently over 200,000 subscribers.

It was with this song that a veteran drummer took notice of Bushell.

With all that confidence, Bushell sent a challenge to the drummer of Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, David Eric Grohl.

She uploaded a video on August 18, issuing a challenge to the famous Dave Grohl along with her cover of “Everlong,” a song from the Foo Fighters, as her opener for the challenge.

Grohl was able to watch the video and was urged by his fans to take on the little girl’s challenge.

The result was a drum-off that the world couldn’t get enough of!

On August 30, Grohl posted his response on Twitter, accepting Bushell’s challenge. In the video, Grohl performed the same song “Everlong” using her daughter’s kit.

He said that it was his first time playing the song ever since he and the band recorded it in 1997.

Since the battle was just starting, Grohl upped the stakes of their digital drum-off by performing a song she probably has not heard before.

It was a drum arrangement from a song called “Dead End Friends” by Them Crooked Vultures. Grohl gave Bushell some time to master the piece and upload her own take on the internet.

The heated battle went on until one of them threw the towel.

Bushell could not let an old-timer beat her and so she uploaded her response in less than a week after Grohl’s video.

She rocked the song out flawlessly, declaring her proud checkmate to Grohl. Still, the battle wasn’t over yet.

In the next round time, Grohl composed a special song just for this exciting occasion—a song about Nandi.

Bushell watched the video and was really surprised by how it turned out.

Still, it didn’t stop her from composing her own song to finally beat Grohl. She wrote an original called, “Rock and Grohl” as a response to their challenge and it really impressed Grohl. Finally, Grohl ended their month-long battle by admitting defeat to Bushell. In an interview with Stephen Colbert, Grohl explained:

“Every time she would put out these videos on her page, I’d be like, oh my God, I’m gonna get my ass kicked again.”

This is one of the best things that happened this year!

It was a pretty entertaining battle, and it’s one great story that happened during an otherwise unfortunate time.

And we have two very talented musicians to thank!
