Dave Crosby and his daughter Claire have been melting hearts all over the internet with their many videos of themselves singing songs and just being an adorable father-daughter duo.
The Crosbys have around 4.06 million subscribers to their channel.
So it’s well worth checking out if you don’t know who they are yet.
Dave was once on The Voice but when he got eliminated, he put music on a shelf and focused on providing for his family.
He only began recording videos with Claire for fun.
Then he posted them on YouTube, not expecting them to blow up like they did.
Fast forward to today and here’s the father and daughter team singing “America The Beautiful” just before the Fourth of July.
The song was first a poem written in 1893 by a teacher named Katharine Lee Bates (1859-1929) after she paid a visit to Pike’s Peak in Colorado. “America The Beautiful” first appeared in print in 1895.
The music video is shot on rolling hills, lush forests, and majestic mountains.
Claire walks around in a pretty dress, singing a sweetly and innocently as can be.
Her dad joins in eventually, his smooth voice complimenting his daughter’s very well.
The lyrics paint a lovely picture, capturing the essence of America.
This viewer certainly seems to think so,
“Wow, this was an excellent rendition of this song by Claire and her father. Thank you for sharing yourselves with all of us. We need to see and hear beautiful things like this in our world especially during these difficult times. You brighten our days and lives and for that, I thank you.”
This rendition between Claire and her dad was in collaboration with a homeschooling program called The Good and the Beautiful.
It is such a powerful video when you think about it.
The relationship between a good father and his daughter, surrounded by America’s stunning landscape, accompanied by the words of the song hold so much promise for the future.
Independence wasn’t easily won.
The lyrics tell you everything you need to know,
“Oh beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife
Who more than self, their country loved
And mercy more than life”
“America, America may God thy gold refine
‘Til all success be nobleness
And every gain divined”
It is deliberately sang slow, putting emphasis on the words while sustaining notes, as if to remind listeners of how deep and rich the country really is in terms of culture and history.
Claire knows this, and her father must have taught her so much about her country.
Why else would she sing this way?
There’s even a band!
Dave and Claire’s duet here would fit very well in a Disney movie.
It is powerful, majestic, and emotional. Elements that would stir up feelings of pride and love in anyone watching.
Look ahead with hope, look behind with gratitude. America was and still is beautiful.
