Darci Lynne Farmer knows exactly how to be charming and endearing!
When she was just 12 years old, she tried out for America’s Got Talent and quite literally blew the competition away.
Not to offend any of the other season 12 contestants, but when compared to Darci Lynne, they just aren’t quite as memorable.
But can we really blame them, Darci Lynne did bring a puppet to her audition!
She took the stage and instantly intrigued judge Simon Cowell. He asked her, “Why are you laughing?” And all Darci could do, was giggle and say, “I don’t know!”
That was enough of an answer for Simon. He wanted to know more about the puppet Darci Lynne brought with her.
For her audition for AGT, Darci Lynne was joined on stage by a bunny named Petunia.
Simon had another smart question for Darci Lynne and asked, “Is that a real bunny?”
Darci Lynne and Petunia just looked at each other after Simon’s silly question and that pretty much said it all!
Before Darci Lynne could perform, Simon wanted to know more about what brought her to the America’s Got Talent stage.
“Well, it was one of my big dreams. But also, I would really like to keep ventriloquism alive, because it is not common. You know?”
After that, Darci Lynne got started on her audition and it was something that the judges had never truly seen before.
Darci Lynne joked with Petunia before the little bunny began singing George Gershwin‘s “Summertime.” Just a few words in and judge Heidi Klum shouted “wow.”
The performance was incredible and by the end of it, the audience and the judges were on their feet cheering for Darci Lynne.
The 12-year-old ventriloquist was overcome with emotion as she watched everyone around her clapping and she started to tear up.
After some of the cheerings had died down, judge Mel B started to tell Darci Lynne just how much she loved her.
“You know what is really sweet? Your puppet, I’m guessing, is exactly like you. Very charming and adorable. You make my heart melt. You were brilliant! I am trying to describe how amazing it was.”
By the end of her thought, Mel B then said, “You know what?” and slammed her Golden Buzzer for Darci Lynne!
Gold confetti shot down from the ceiling, Darci Lynne and her mother (who was backstage with host Tyra Banks) burst into tears.
The Golden Buzzer was introduced during season 9 on AGT and means a contestant is automatically entered into the live-show rounds.
Each judge only gets one Golden Buzzer per auditions and Mel B used her for Darci Lynne, that is how confident she was in this little ventriloquist!
