Who doesn’t love a flash mob?
Flash mobs are usually brief and aim to surprise and entertain unsuspecting onlookers.
They can be organized for various reasons, such as celebrating a special event, promoting a cause, or just for the sheer fun of creating a surprising and memorable moment in a public setting.
Once the performance is over, the participants quickly disperse, blending back into the crowd, leaving the spectators delighted and often recording the experience to share online.
Flash mobs have become a popular form of creative expression and entertainment in the age of social media, often going viral and reaching a global audience.
A Surprise Birthday Gift
Not all birthday presents need to be wrapped; in this case, the birthday gift was nothing short of a spectacular flash mob.
The birthday celebrant, Alyson Stubbs, was surprised by her family and friends with an impromptu dance performance.
On that special day, everyone gathered in what seemed to be a public park, and the flash mob began just seconds after.
As soon as Abba’s hit classic “Dancing Queen” started to play, a group of people of all ages dressed in green also started to gather around.
Clapping in sync, they slowly formed lines while cheering loudly to hype up the unsuspecting crowd and, of course, Alyson.
Why “Dancing Queen?” Because it’s an amazing song choice!
In 1975, ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson crafted “Dancing Queen,” initially titled “Boogaloo.”
Inspired by disco hits, the song’s infectious dance hook took months to perfect.
ABBA members knew it would be a massive hit, and upon its release in August 1976, it soared to the top of the charts in 15 countries, including the US.
Despite Swedish Europop’s limited popularity in the US, “Dancing Queen’s” disco vibe and joyous theme resonated with American listeners, making it ABBA’s only No. 1 hit in the US.
Since its release, “Dancing Queen” has remained popular, with notable covers featured in the TV show “Glee” and the ABBA jukebox musicals “Mamma Mia!” and “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.”
The song’s enduring appeal continues to captivate audiences, keeping the spirit of dancing alive.
There is no way you wouldn’t dance once you hear this song playing, right?
It left the birthday girl stunned
Confused and surprised, Alyson tried her best to gather her thoughts about what was going on.
Soon, she finally realized the flash mob dance was for her, a gift from all the people who love her.
A woman from the group even gave her a bouquet of colorful and beautiful flowers.
Overwhelmed with emotions from the love shown to her on her special day, Alyson almost broke down in tears.
The group of dancers continued with the dance, watching the beautiful moment unfold before their eyes.
Alyson couldn’t be happier with what she had received for her birthday, knowing it was a group effort made by the most important people in her life.
Even the unsuspecting crowd loved it
Almost everyone was on their feet, some of them even recording the flash mob.
After all, it’s not every day that you get to see a flash mob; thankfully, this beautiful moment happened years before the pandemic.
According to Wikipedia,
“The first flash mobs were created in Manhattan in 2003 by Bill Wasik, senior editor of Harper’s Magazine. The first attempt was unsuccessful after the targeted retail store was tipped off about the plan for people to gather.”
Alyson’s special day was filled with lots of smiles and waves of laughter, all shared together with her family members and friends.
It only shows the type of person she truly is, and so are the people surrounding her – all loving and caring.
