Every proud parent has been there – sitting in the audience of their child’s dance recital.
Sure… maybe the two hour performances aren’t always as riveting as we’d hope them to be. But our little ones are just so cute that it doesn’t matter.
Just like everyone else – little Faith’s adoring parents wanted to capture the important milestone in her life. So they came to her recital with their video camera and hypothetical cheerleader pom poms in full force.
She and her dancing mates took to the stage in the most adorable little kitten costumes. Complete with black bowtie necklaces and cat ear headbands.
In true children’s dance recital style… no one is ready to go and all the girls are just bursting with energy! Faith is crouching down and jumping up while she waits for the music to start. There are random papers scattered across the floor. A little one behind her is having her shoes tied by one of the teachers.
It’s hectic to say the least, but all the more endearing because of it.
Even getting the girls to take their places and the audience to settle down is a struggle!
The music starts and the little kittens start tapping their toes in time to the beat. Well… mostly in time.
But in their defence, tap dancing is really hard work! Luckily they have the help of their teacher, somewhere off screen, helping them remember the moves.
Two little audience members are absolutely vibing to the performance. They’re like number one fans!
Dancing from side to side, throwing their hands in the air, and trying to keep up with the girls on stage.
It’s sort of like broken telephone. The dancing girls in the audience are learning as they go from the kittens on stage, and the kittens on stage are learning as they go from the teacher.
But you know what? They’re all doing great.
It’s hard to keep any youngster’s attention for too long, and apparently this kitten dance is taking it out of the dancers. All that tapping and arm waving is a lot of work, you know.
Some of the girls are getting a little distracted by either their friends and family in the audience, or whatever is going on at the side of the stage. But they pull through!
They all make it to the end and hold their last pose like total professionals.
The audience goes wild!
And if you were impressed by how well our girl Faith did as a kitten, it wasn’t her only performance that day!
She also got to show off her ballet moves dressed as a fairy. It looks like she did a quick change backstage, swapping in her cat eats and bowtie for a pair of wings. Keeping the same leotard, tutu, and hair piece as the last routine.
Genius, if you ask me.
Any dance mom can attest to how difficult it is to get a little one into more than one costume during the same recital – but this quick change method is a life hack.
Watch the little kittens tap their way through the routine below. They’re too cute!
