Even if you’re not new to performing in front of other people, you’d still feel nervous and anxious once you step on stage for an audition.

There’s the fear of being denied, ridiculed, making mistakes, and disliked by the audience.

Jørgen Dahl Moe was one of the hopeful artists to join The Voice Norway.

And just like the other artists who tried their luck on the same stage, he took a risk when he auditioned.

There was no guarantee that the audience will like him or his performance.

He didn’t even know if the judges will vote in his favor.

When Jørgen stepped on stage, there was no telling what kind of talent he has.

Wearing a baseball cap and playing his guitar, he didn’t look any different from the other people who auditioned that day.

However, when he started singing, people were speechless.

The judges started whispering to each other.

It’s as if they couldn’t believe what they were hearing.

He sounded so good. And with his guitar playing skills, there’s no denying that the man behind the voice has been singing for quite some time already.

And within seconds, the judges started turning for him one by one.

Even the audience started clapping and cheering him on.

His voice was angelic, a perfect match to the piece he was singing.

Originally written and performed by Bruce Springsteen, the song was an instant hit the day it was released.

In fact, it stayed at the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for about four weeks.

It sold more than one million singles in America, making it one of the artist’s biggest hits. It also became Australia’s highest-selling single in 1984.

Jørgen’s performance has been viewed more than 2.4 million times.

And it has earned more than a thousand positive comments. Almost everyone who has seen it has good things to say about it.

One YouTube user said:

“I grew up listening to this song BUT never really took heed to the words until now! It’s amazing how someone can sing a well known song in a different way that makes you hear it differently.. Amazing!”

Another one commented:

“One of the best covers I’ve ever heard. Simply brilliant. Perfect english, perfect tones, perfect tempo. Bruce Springsteen should be honored.”

There was also this person who said:

“What a voice!. It started with goosebumps. Then his voice started playing with my emotions. There is so much talent coming out of Norway! You are an incredible talent and will be a success. I will be watching from Australia, enjoy the ride.

Jørgen made the judges quite emotional with his rendition of the song.

There was definitely something special about his voice.

Jørgen went on to win The Voice Norway earning him a car and a recording contract with Universal Music.

His final performance was Prince’s song “Purple Rain”. He wore an eye-catching and patterned suit with a guitar slung over his shoulder in true tribue to the style that only Prince had.

The judges all loved his performance – even moving them to tears – as well as his fans that secured his win.

He was ecstatic with his win saying,

“I’m completely empty and overwhelmed. It is completely distant. It was by no means expected. It’s amazing stuff.”

When asked what his future plans may be he answered:

“Now I will continue to work, write and release music. My journey with The Voice has been long, intense and filled with fond memories.”

Most certainly with a stage presence like his and a voice that pierces yet soothes the heart, he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Not to mention a fan base that will eagerly be awaiting more and more.

Congratulations for his win on The Voice Norway!
