“The Git Up” song was released in May of 2019 and people have been blowing up the internet with it ever since.
We, of course, have Blanco Brown to thank for that, and we really can’t thank him enough.
It’s provided one of the most entertaining internet dance challenges to date, and people just can’t stop steppin’ to the beat of this tune.
Apparently, neither can some animals, as you see here.
This guy named Olli Arnemann likes to post videos of himself and his horse.
This pair’s take on Brown’s dance challenge is, well, different.
Olli doesn’t actually execute all the dance moves. Instead, he guides his horse around the enclosure to the beat of the song!
The man is literally guiding his horse to move along to the music.
“OMG. Best Get Up Challenge ever. Amazing that this man had the idea to create this video, and this beautiful horse is so well trained.”
Says Janis Bell. And she’s probably right!
Of course there’s always the possibility that his horse actually does love music and has an interest in dancing in front of the camera.
It is very graceful and photogenic, after all.
See, the song and the dance were such hits that Blanco Brown even released an instructional video on how to do the dance.
User-generated videos to the Git Up challenge exist in the hundreds, if not thousands, online.
The song’s lyrics are the steps so all you have to do is follow along.
“Gon’ and do the 2 step then cowboy boogie
Grab your sweetheart and spin out with ’em
Do the hoedown and get into it (whoo, whoo, whoo)
Take it to the left now and dip with it
Gon’ throw down, take a sip with it
Now lean back put your hips in it”
Now you could say that Olli is a cowboy, with his build and obvious love for his horse.
In fact, go through his YouTube channel and you’ll see Olli spending time with his horses.
And I don’t mean just hanging out with them either.
Olli trains his horses to pull off some pretty impressive moves.
Go ahead and check out his content. It’s pretty entertaining.
So this really is a cowboy boogie for him.
He commands his horse to walk forwards and backward in rhythm, exchanging a few steps with the animal so as to loosen up and perhaps show the animal that it’s time to dance.
Cheyenne Montuori commented,
“That’s what you call a great bond with your horse. You have a really good connection with your horse for that.”
And the horse trusts his human too.
It’s amazing what Olli is doing with his horse.
He’s having fun for sure but look how excited that horse is. Had it not been for Olli’s guidance, that animal would have shown us way more dance moves.
Kevin Marken shared his thoughts in the comments section saying,
“I thought it would take a long time to learn that dance I can’t imagine what it took to train a horse.”
Blanco Brown was raised in Atlanta, Georgia where he would listen to hip-hop artists like OutKast.
Brown would visit his grandmother in Butler, Georgia during the summer where he would listen to country music such as Johnny Cash.
Blanco would go on to appreciate both forms of music and in fact, incorporate them into his work.
Brown had a serious motorcycle accident in Atlanta back in August of 2020.
He broke both of his arms, wrists and legs and his pelvis.
He was rushed into a 12-hour surgery and is now recovering. His love for music got him through.
He’ll be dancing soon enough!
How about the horse?
He’s got the whole “to the left, to the right” part down and even raises a hoof since he can’t put it on his side. This is definitely one of the more unique Git Up versions out there.
