What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve experienced in your life? Was it doing something silly when you thought no one was looking? Was it doing a socially unacceptable behavior at a formal event? Or is it experiencing a wardrobe malfunction on stage and in front of an audience?
What would you do if your performance didn’t go as planned? Will you keep the show going or you’ll just close the show right then and there?
Dancing in front of an audience needs a lot of courage.
Not only does it need the confidence to perform but also the courage to face any possible fiasco in front of an expecting crowd.
In a thirty-second video posted on YouTube, a group of performers were charming the audience with a traditional belly dancing performance.
The dance troupe was clad in glittered and embellished regalia.
They swung their arms gracefully and spun around with their flowy skirts. It’s not surprising that a lot of people are mesmerized by this kind of dance.
This genre of dance was hypothesized to have originated in North Africa. Through trades and migration, the artform made its way to the Middle East where it became synonymous with the region’s culture.
It has since become widespread and has been performed in various stages around the world including this one. And as well-practiced as the girls are, no one was prepared for what was about to happen.
The girls shook their hips in a hypnotic rhythm.
It would take anyone’s eyes off the things surrounding the girls, even those who are performing at the back.
At one point, the steps required some quick hops that may have contributed to the next unforgettable moment of the performance.
With one short hop, the bra of one of the performers fell off!
Quickly and without warning, the woman wrapped her arms over her chest and shuffled toward the stage exit.
It would be a bit difficult to move on from something like this but we hope she remembers that events like this are all part of life.
But how do we get over something this embarrassing?
A lot of experts agree that compassion towards one’s self is the key to getting over these moments quickly. Whenever you see yourself in an embarrassing situation, you can put yourself in the shoes of someone who’s witnessing it from a distance.
Then ask yourself, how does that feel? What do you feel toward the person? More often than not, you’d feel upset and sympathetic too.
Others also point out that humor is a big help.
By finding something to laugh about the situation and not drawing more attention than you should, you can help yourself out of the situation without making a big fuss about it.
Lastly, we can all agree that whoever is in charge of the wardrobe apartment has a lot of explaining to do. You can’t have that person running the costumes especially when their dancers are performing in front of a big crowd.
