It’s always amazing to watch talented dancers doing what they do best, strutting their stuff on the stage and moving their bodies to the beat with rhythm and precision.
Whether you’re totally terrible on the dance floor or a seasoned pro, we can all appreciate the smooth moves of these performers, and it’s especially impressive when they have the courage to step out in front of audiences at dance competitions in an attempt to take home the top prize!
Sean McKeever and Jessica Cox know all about the unique thrills and fears of performing in a live dance competition. They appeared at the Capital Swing event in 2015 and won the 1st place prize with this fabulous routine.
Each year for nearly three decades now, the Capital Swing Convention has been bringing dancers of all ages and abilities together.
From total novices and junior dancers right up to all-star champions, the events are open to everyone, so Sean and Jessica decided to put their talents to the test!
With their fellow dancers watching on from the sidelines, these two smiling partners stepped out into the center of the stage and shared a happy hug before getting ready to groove.
Seconds later, ‘Uptown Funk’ by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson kicked in and Sean and Jessica began their dance!
Blending ballroom elegance, a little bit of swing, and even a few street moves for good measure, their routine is a fusion of styles that the judges simply could not ignore.
Right from the start, Jessica and Sean set the tone for the rest of their performance with stylish spins and fast-paced twirls.
As the performance continues, they continue to blow the crowd’s minds with their jelly-like hips and legs, shaking, wiggling, and grooving to the beat.
We can’t help wanting to bop right along with Sean and Jessica as their dance goes on and the funky beats continue to play.
And one of the best parts of the performance is that both of these dancers seem to be having so much fun with it! They’re smiling all the way through, and their infectious joy even spreads to the other dancers, who start jumping around and cheering for them in the background.
By the end of the routine, it’s clear that this dancing competition has found its winners!
The other dancers did well, but Sean and Jessica totally stole the show. Their improvised moves and high energy spins match so well with the music, and it’s simply impossible to not have a good time while watching these people dance.
