The West Covina hip hop dance team has been declared Hip Hop CADTD state champions thanks to an impressive hip hop dance routine that you will not want to miss out on.
The dance group has truly outperformed themselves with the perfect execution of their routine, and the crowd simply loved it! YouTube viewers have felt the same way and given the video a ton of love. You really do have to see it!
The new hip hop champs
The dance group takes to the center stage dressed in their swagalicious black and white tracksuits ready to stun the crowd and rip the dance floor apart with their seriously killer moves.
They begin their routine by standing in single file behind one another, but when the music kicks in, the dancers quickly spring to life. Their movements are precise, strong, and completely in unison with one another. One would even think that they were an extension of a single entity!
Once the dancers split into two parallel columns, the crowd screams with cheers. A dancer from each column performs a crouched-spinning rotation in a wave fashion, making the black and white-clad dancers look like a series of dominos toppling over – it is perfectly executed!
The impressive performance and perfectly choreographed routine are proof of pure dedication, hard work, and an absolute passion for hip hop dance. The moves are not only precise but thrilling! And from the reaction of the crowd, it’s evident that the group has the entire room’s adrenaline pumping.
The big finale
The dancers have definitely brought the heat, the thunder, and packed the punch with their performance, but it’s the finale that has the crowd in complete hysteria. Two-minutes into the performance, the group performs an outrageous move.
The dancers have positioned themselves into two rows – the front row acting as the support for the back row who are performing handstands. But with the shifting of the beat, the back dancers slip over the front dancer’s shoulders to take their position!
To end the tremendous routine, the hip-hop performers are all positioned in a single row along the dancefloor and end off with a powerful double punch to the ground, followed by a classic hip hop pose.
What the CADTD stand for
The California Association of Dance/Drill Team Directors is a non-profit organization striving to connect various high schools across the United States through the use of dance.
The CADTD also grants scholarships to students who meet a certain grade point average requirement, making this contest an excellent opportunity for dancers to obtain the funding to further their passion and give them the necessary foundation for a good future.
The CADTD is only one of the dance competitions in which the West Covina High School dance team competes in throughout the year, with them having already competed at numerous contents right before the start of the CADTD contest.
The dance group has received numerous awards, including first position in all-male, all-female, and small hip-hop group awards. And they even managed to snag the first position in the state championships in the CADTD contest!
The dance group from West Covina continues to impress and, with over 1.4 million views on YouTube since the release of their video, it can be seen that the rest of the world is impressed by their dynamic, elaborate, and confident dance moves too!
