Have you ever been in a serious dance battle? Though many of us may not have actually participated, we’ve surely seen them in movies or on TV. When people are truly incredible dancers, it can be a thrill to see them compete—the best performances even get the crowd involved! All of us probably wish we could be better dancers. Still, we can at least appreciate the talents of those around us.
One such amazing performances broke out in front of a Barnes and Noble.
The performance was loaded to YouTube by user Noster, a dancer who has many performances up on his channel.
Noster, who is also known by his given name Noah Kenaley, is a member of a dance squad called The Millennium Robots. He and his fellow dancers have mastered many popping and locking techniques to create convincing robotic movements. In this particular video, Noster faces off against Eclypse, a living statue performer who is stationed opposite him in front of the store (and who is in on the entire performance). A crowd gathers as the music starts to play, slowly building in intensity. Noster begins by warming up and getting a sense of the rhythm before the beat drops. Once it does, he lets loose a flurry of moves—including spins, drops, robotic gestures and popping and locking techniques.
Finally, he passes the spotlight over to Eclypse while the crowd applauds.
Although Noster’s skills are definitely impressive, nobody is ready for how good Eclypse is.
This time, Eclypse gives himself a moment to catch the rhythm and the song builds in intensity again. Once again, the beat drops and he comes alive with a huge range of fluid movements and footwork that is perfectly syncopated with the beat. Many of his dance moves are extremely subtle but seem almost inhuman in their precision.
As the song winds down, he slows his movements, strikes a pose and the performance ends.
Both performers are so talented that it’s difficult to judge who won.
While Eclypse limited his movements to a tiny circle of light that he was standing on, Noster explores the space in front of him much more broadly—though his moves were a little less precise and technical. Still, he gave the performance all the passion he had to give. Above all, this video makes us want to learn how to dance just a little bit better.
