Getting tired of the usual videos showing up on your feed? You’ll definitely enjoy this one. It’s different, it’s upbeat, and it just screams talent. Five women took to the stage and showed off more than just simple, choreographed dance moves. These incredible dancers, called Sole Power, were part of a dance showdown organized by the Clogging Champions of America.
To give you a better understanding of clogging, it’s a type of folk dance also called clog dancing. Dancers use their footwear to create rhythmic sounds by striking the heel, toe, or both against a floor. It has since been fused with other dance styles, too. Other terms for it include foot-stomping, buck dancing, or jigging.
Enthusiastic footwork is the core of clog dancing.
It’s also divided into five major categories: shuffle clogging, cadence clogging, rhythm clogging, stomp clogging, and buck dancing. And to show you just how fun a dance clogging can be, here are the ladies of Sole Power to demonstrate.
If you’re wondering what type of music genre goes best with clog dancing, you’ll be surprised to know that almost any track can go with the dance style as long as you’re creative.
These ladies took a popular hip-hop track, fused it with clog dancing steps, and made it work.
Wearing eye-catching outfits and huge grins on their faces, they moved confidently to “Get Low” by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz.
Demonstrating just how intense clogging can be, Sole Power executed each step in perfect synchronicity in time with the beat of the popular hip-hop track.
The simple formation that preceded the dance definitely kept their talent a mystery, even for just a moment.
The dance performance was an entertaining blend of quick, energetic movements, and none of the ladies seemed the least bit winded.
Can you imagine how much effort it takes to learn these steps and keep in time with the rest of the dancers? More than the impressive swift movements, the women also charmed the audience with beautiful smiles and animated facial expressions.
Like the naturals that they are, Sole Power made the entire number look effortless.
These ladies sure mean business!
Without missing a beat, they showed off some pretty fancy footwork and arm movements.
Just watching them move on stage is enough to make you feel like you need to catch your breath!
You’ve got to hand it to these ladies.
It’s not easy putting together a routine for this type of dance, but these women were up to the challenge.
They came up with an entertaining routine, paired it with a song everyone knows, and put on a show that had everyone sit up and take notice.
