Blanco Brown’s “The Git Up” is one catchy tune that has given birth to its own dance challenge.

Called… The git up challenge, of course. It’s got people doing the dance with their background and theme of choice then once the video ends they’ll call out and challenge a friend, colleague, or even a group of people. It goes on and on that it’s taken the internet by storm.

The song is a mix of hip-hop, country, and a whole lotta fun.

These volunteer firefighters of Alnwick Haldimand Ontario in Canada wanted to have a little fun at the end of their shift. Firefighters undergo rigorous training and are taught to be always prepared with extreme attention to detail. Preparation matters when dealing with fire.

So they spent countless hours watching tutorial videos of the git up challenge and practicing the steps by heart. If it’s going on the internet, it has to be perfect.

The lyrics are the actual steps so that helps a lot.

Rehearsals done and it’s showtime. Donning their uniforms complete with their trucks in the back for show, these men and women tasked to put out fires are ready to start another one.

Don’t think it’s easy. Those uniforms are heavy!

Always fun to dance after a long day at work.

These guys are out to show that aside from being strong and resilient, they can move too! That helps when maneuvering through burning furniture and falling debris. Don’t forget the heavy gear and uniforms.

They proudly wave their flag and flaunt the their logo like an official coat of arms.

Alnwick/Haldimand is a township situated between Lake Ontario and Rice Lake and is part of the Oak Ridges Moraine

Six firefighters in suspenders and boots git up and put their hips into it.

They certainly look like they’re enjoying themselves. Even the viewers are loving it.

“I live in A/H and this is a perfect illustration of what a great Township we live in! Our Volunteer Fire Department is exceptional with awesome people! Great way to initiate the new Fire Hall. :)”

That’s from a resident of the town and look how proud they are! Here’s another one,

“I love it!!! Thanks for sharing and thanks for all that yall do!! Yall are truly our soldiers over here on our soil :)”

Wave it high then do the cowboy boogie, Ontario!

The “do the butterfly” part looked to be their favorite part though. No one is trying to hide a smile and look at them go!

Each volunteer is given a solo shot and they make the most of it by either dancing or just acting silly on camera.

What a fun bunch of guys (and girl) to hang out with!

No sweethearts to grab but they are definitely comfortable.

Some drop their suspenders, others spin like cowboys, the rest just smile and let loose and it is clear to see that all the preparations and rehearsals paid off. These guys are so much fun to watch. Must have been a great way to de-stress too.

And like them, there are other fire departments who stepped to the git up challenge.
