Although the Git Up challenge began a few years back, it’s still trending today. If you’ve never heard of this, don’t feel bad. This particular challenge has to do with the Blanco Brown song “The Git Up.” While it’s more or less country music, he decided to jazz things up by adding some hip-hop vibe.
Since its introduction in 2015, the Git Up challenge has been performed by an array of people. That includes NFL football players, novice groups of line dancers, police officers, and more. Although they’re all fun to watch and unique, one daddy and daughter duo too this challenge to a new level. Now, the internet can’t get enough.
Putting a spin on the challenge
Not only does this daddy-daughter team nail every move of the Git Up challenge but they do it while sipping on Capri Sun. It’s all just too adorable. As a side to the original challenge, somehow, one started showing people drinking this delicious fruity beverage. Sure, there were a lot of great contestants but no one could beat this pair.
And so, it begins
At the start of the video, which has now gone viral, you hear Brown sing the words, “Grab your loved ones.” In perfect synchronization, this dad and daughter start swaying back and forth to the beat. Of course, they’re holding their favorite flavor of Capri Sun while doing it.
Check out the foot action
As the song heats up, so does the footwork. Remember, the song isn’t hard to follow along with because Brown calls out every move. But what makes it so cool is that everyone has a unique interpretation. When he sings, “Go’n and do the two step and then cowboy boogie,” both father and daughter swing their legs to the right.
Love the twirl
They then step back, cross their feet, and that’s when the dad gives his daughter a sweet twirl. The song continues, “Do the hoedown and get into it.” They perform a subtle hoedown move that’s spot-on. Next comes a really fun part of the song.
Capri Sun gets into the action
Brown goes on with, “Take it to the left now and dip with it. Go’n throw down, take a sip with it. Now lean back, put your hips in it. Let’s have some fun.” The part about taking a sip is when both daddy and daughter take a drink of…well…Capri Sun. Talk about a perfect commercial.
They follow every command of the song
“To the left to the left now.” Yup, got it. “To the right to the right now.” Got that too. When it comes to the Git Up challenge, it’s easy to see why so many people fell in love with these two. Not only are they having fun but you can tell they share a special bond. With this viral video, they’ll have a memory to look back on for the rest of their lives.
They gave it everything they had and then some. Between the shaking hips, fancy footwork, spins, and dips, this was a perfect performance. All the while, they never let go of their Capri Sun drink.
