When one dad combined voices with his five-year-old for a sweet duet – fortunately, the whole scene was caught on film. Their rendition of the song “True Colors” is pulling on heart-strings in the best way possible.
The Tinsley family knows a thing or two about the importance of enjoying each other’s company. It’s what they value most, which is why it’s the focus of their social media accounts.
Tinsley Time F.O.E (Family Over Everything) is the name of dad Marcus, mom Jacey, and little Taylee’s YouTube channel. On it, they share fun videos they’ve created together, including many aww-worthy musical performances filmed from home.
Marcus is a talented singer who enjoys teaming up with his daughter Taylee for duets. The pair’s been doing it since she was just an itty-bitty thing too.
They’ve covered popular Disney tunes like “A Whole New World” and “Let it Go” – and also Marcus’ original songs as well. Apparently, the music gene runs in their blood!
Dad Marcus and his daughter decided to perform a duet of the classic song, “True Colors.” It turned out so adorable that the video went viral.
The two can be seen gathered around a microphone, with Taylee dressed for bed in her striped pajamas. Of course, they must have practiced the song before – but having it be a homemade, imperfect film just adds to the beauty of it all.
After the music begins to play, they softly sing:
“You with the sad eyes
Don’t be discouraged, oh I realize
It’s hard to take courage…”
You might best remember Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” from her 1986 album of the same title. However, there have been other artists to cover the track over the years too.
Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick famously paired up for a duet of “True Colors” that was featured in the DreamWorks movie Trolls. What’s awesome about the revival is that it allowed a younger generation to fall in love with a song that has such a powerful message.

It leaves your heart in a puddle listening to Marcus and his baby girl sing together. With their heads close, they belt out the lyrics while sharing headphones that are playing the tune.

At points, they even look into each other’s eyes and sing. Talk about an unforgettable experience that they’ll never forget!
Watching this dad and daughter perform really does remind you how sometimes it’s the little moments with loved ones that mean the most.
On the Tinsley’s channel they explain:
“F.O.E (family over everything) is more than just a channel name, It’s a mindset. A way of thinking that can hopefully help influence people to realize that money can only buy material things that can only give temporary bliss. Materialistic things that seem so great and amazing right now, will soon mean nothing. We need to invest our time and ourselves into the ones we love.”
