People everywhere have been doing their part to try to flatten the curve and stave off the worst of the pandemic, but the Colton family is actually up-leveling their isolation by “getting the band back together.”
Because there’s nothing like a good old fashioned quarantine to remind us just how much we love spending time with our family!
And there’s no better way to “Come Together” as a family than to brighten everyone’s mood with a familiar Beatles tune – with a fun little twist, of course.
Colt Clark and the Quarantine Kids was born out of, you guessed it, the quarantine!
This band is comprised of mom Aubree, the behind-the-scenes camerawoman and band photographer, and dad Colt, who is a professional musician and singer. Their three kids, 8-year-old Beckett, 10-year-old Cash, and 6-year-old Bellamy, are also a part of the band, and they obviously inherited the couple’s talent genes:
On their YouTube channel, mom and dad say they just want to brighten everyone’s day with their music videos.
“Together we home school our three children (even when we’re not in the middle of a pandemic). :) We’re keeping busy during our time at home by learning a new song every day. We thought we’d record them and share as we go. Hopefully it brightens your day! This is Colt Clark and the Quarantine Kids playing, “Come Together” by the Beatles.”
Only, this one-of-a-kind performance is not your typical Beatles cover
Keep your eye on sweet 6-year-old Bellamy Clark, because she totally totally steals the show when she bounces all over the place and cuts up the rug with her dance grooves!
And why does she do it? She told Bay News 9:
“It’s fun being with my family, and being in a band.”
Around March 16th, Colt lost everything and all his music gigs were canceled. But instead of feeling sorry for himself, he took notice of his kids and saw just how good they were with music.
His wife Aubree suggested they start recording music sessions together, and that’s when the true magic of this family began to reveal itself.
“It’s a way to bring us together,” 10-year-old Cash Clark said. “I like showing off my skills.”
The group has since gone on to be featured on network shows like CNN.
A family friend has set up a “virtual tip jar” on GoFundMe on behalf of Colt and his family. Dean Minuto describes his friend as a professional musician who has brought joy to his own family over the years at the Don Cesar Hotel on St. Pete Beach in Florida.
“This COVID-19 is crushing people’s livelihoods (as you can imagine, Colt’s livelihood is temporarily GONE) but not their SPIRIT. For the last several days Colt has been posting songs that he has taught his children to perform with him– and I am creating a Virtual Tip Jar for Colt.”
Colt would never have set up a tip jar for himself, but he appreciates anything that comes his way.
Like many who have been affected by COVID-19, he has been forced to stay at home. But instead of giving up on his musician lifestyle, he’s actually gotten his family in on it.
And boy do they rock! The two boys are naturals at playing the drums and guitar, and his daughter is on another level entirely when it comes to her dancing!
