The challenge has even caught the attention of law enforcement officers, who have joined in and shared their performances online.
Families, too, are getting in on the action, just like the one in the video below.
“The Git Up” is a country-rap fusion track. It’s an unusual blend, but it works surprisingly well.
The dance routine involves line dancing steps that sync with the lyrics, such as “…do the two-step then cowboy boogie…”

Besides being entertaining to watch, they provide a fun way for friends, families, and co-workers to spend time together.
In this particular video, this Dad decided to involve his two daughters and their friend in learning the dance as a surprise for his wife Haley, who was away at the time.
Dancing in front of an audience can be nerve-wracking, so Johnny took the lead, allowing the three girls to dance behind him.
They seemed quite shy, especially considering they didn’t know their performance would be viewed hundreds of thousands of times.
After the introduction, they launched into “The Git Up” dance as a group.
Despite the limited practice time, they executed the routine quite impressively.
Haley, Johnny’s wife, was particularly moved by the performance.
After Johnny posted the video on YouTube, she commented, “What I loved most about my husband doing this with our daughters and their friend is that this was a surprise for me! I had a pretty bad week and I came home to a clean house and a performance and none of them knew the dance before this day they had practiced it in the hours that I was gone so this video was a one take and I think they all did great considering this was the first day they had practiced it!”
Haley ended her comment with a sentiment many of us were likely thinking, especially after she mentioned the clean house: “…Hubby got major points from me.”
