This dance partner dancing a “slow boogie” may have changed the name of the game.

Nils Andrén and Bianca Locatelli are dance partners who perform swing dances such as Lindy Hop and Boogie. They started dancing at a very young age in their respective home countries. So when their paths crossed, they found out their common passion in swing dancing.

Bianca moved to Sweden, and they’ve been dance partners since.

Currently, the dance couple remains active as performers, instructors, and choreographers.

They do dance events and make Dance-at-Home tutorial videos through their YouTube channel. They’re known to do “slow boogie,” and this is evident in their YouTube videos.

Boogie dance (or Boogie Woogie) is inspired by the Lindy Hop in the 1950s.

This dance is often accompanied by up-tempo rock-n-roll and piano music ranging from 90 to 125 beats per minute (BPM). This can be played in double time at 250 BPM. Under the Swing Dance umbrella, Boogie originated in central Europe but has roots in vernacular African American dances and blues music.

For this competition, people were expecting a typical boogie dance.

You can hear the people’s cheer as the dance couple entered the dance floor. All were awaiting what they have in store for the competition.

The music started, and the duo slowly started to move.

However, the song’s tempo wasn’t what the people expected – and so was their dance. The people’s confusion on what’s going on was apparent in their silence.

The dance duo continued to show their boogie moves, yet the crowd remained still.

They were probably expecting an up-tempo Boogie Woogie music that the dance couple would dance into. But, instead, they were served with a slower version of it.

As their number progressed, they showed some impressive moves.

Their footwork is still reminiscent of a boogie dance – fast and airy footwork based on the dancer’s musical interpretation.

Their performance showed a remarkable interpretation of flirtatious attraction.

You can see through their first movements that they’re acting as if Bianca and Nils met for the first time, slowly moving closer towards each other. Liking the company, they flutter their feet in dancing motion like someone having butterflies in their stomach.

Their dance (and story) elevated to much excitement as Nils lifted Bianca.

He made one extraordinary lift after another as if she weighs nothing! Then, finally, he lifted and turned her around, and the people obviously loved it.

They continued their dance, and people started getting their groove.

After all, Boogie is a flexible swing dance that people can improvise into. Luckily for this duo, they made quite an impression in doing a “slow” boogie, much to the delight of the judges and the crowd.

You can hear clapping from this point, and they beamed even more.

The story of their dance continued as if Nils is incessantly wooing Bianca through an electrifying dance. Finally, they ended the dance gracefully as the crowd cheered louder when they bowed.
