With all these generations, it’s like we’re living in a human version of Pokémon – gotta catch ’em all!
Thankfully, all these generations can still peacefully co-exist with one another.
In fact, this Gen X couple managed to sum up the millennial generation in a nutshell with a rap song.
It’s kind of mind-blowing to realize that Millennials are now hitting their 40s and relinquishing the crown of being the fresh-faced, up-and-coming generation.
Leading the charge into this new era is the Holderness Family.
They’re a comedic couple- “Gen Xers” Kim and Penn Holderness, are most loved for their viral comedy tunes.
Their latest hit was an ode to the Millennial transition into a phase of a quieter, more grounded existence.
Their lives are shifting from all-night clubbing priorities to saving for homes and starting families. Some are already well on their way, being on the early cusp of the crew.
In their latest video, “Welcome to the Club, Millennials,” the Holderness Family extends a warm invitation to Millennials to join them in this new chapter.
Instead of being raucous, it’s a state of mind where a leisurely walk holds more appeal for mental well-being.
Their music parodies are packed with realizations about life.
With over 807,000 subscribers on YouTube and 230 million views since their 2011 debut, Holderness Family Music specializes in original tunes, parodies, and skits that aim to tickle funny bones and poke fun at life’s quirks.
And tickle the funny bone they do.
This video marks a departure from the usual intergenerational banter on social media, with Gen Xers offering a hand of camaraderie to Millennials.
“Well, Gen X is here to say ‘don’t be bummed, come on in, welcome to the club,'” raps Penn.
The song humorously outlines the unofficial criteria for joining “the club” as a Millennial.
From hanging a calendar on your fridge to grooving to supermarket music, it’s a lighthearted way of acknowledging the shared experiences and quirks of aging.
