Meryl Davis and Charlie White are currently the longest lasting dance team in the United States. They teamed up in 1997 and together, have racked up titles and trophies, as well as being the first Americans to win the the World Title and the Olympic Title.
If you need proof of just how insanely talented these two are, then here you go. Davis and White took to the ice once again to prove that they’re the real deal.
Skate beautifully.
Davis and White are introduced to their adoring audience amidst the stunning backdrop with its blinding lights highlighting the pair. A female voice describes what the skating duo are wearing. That’s J. Mendel and the fans approve!
They take their positions and Adele’s “Someone like you” begins to play. Meryl does a slow, classy spin along to the piano before joining Charlie as they skate together executing graceful sweeps and hand motions that blend well with the melody.
Go figure.
There is nothing over the top from Davis and White. It’s figure skating that’s enjoyable to watch. Adele’s melodious singing with her haunting tone of heartbreak and loss matches the all black outfits and the smooth skating on display.
If you watch closely, some of their moves actually interpret some of the lyrics. They convey the song’s many painful words through their spins, sometimes close together and other times away from each other.
All those accolades and trophies have won Davis and White many adoring fans over the last decade and even online viewers cannot get enough of these two,
“Meryl and Charlie are the best ice dancers ever!!! Thank God for You Tube. We’re fortunate that we can go back and watch their wonderful skating.”
Says one fan.
Their official Facebook page says that they are,
“Meryl and Charlie are the 2014 Olympic Gold Medalists & 2 time World Champions. They are also 6 time U.S. Champions.”
Beat that.
Aren’t they awesome?
Davis and White do a few camel spins together, spinning one one leg while the free leg is extended behind them slightly above the hip. They make it look so easy. Good call on those black costumes too. They contrast well against the bright lights.
Charlie does lift Meryl here and there but they do it so tastefully. One such instance is the part of “sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead“. It’s like two lovers sharing a moment!
As cool as that ice.
It is such a dazzling display of figure skating. The fans were surely mesmerized as Davis and White took to the ice and portrayed an Adele classic through their movements. Even their faces interpret the song’s emotions! This song about heartbreak suddenly made you smile, didn’t it?
What’s great about these two is that they really are all about entertaining. Even the way they skate to each other when the performance was over seemed to be part of the show. They face both sides of the audience with graceful bows and spins too. Meryl and Charlie soak up the applause, the cheering crowd roaring their approval at what they’ve just witnessed from the two world champions.
