In this day and age, there are a great many songs that can be referred to as a “country classic”.
From Hank Sr. and Bob Dylan to Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard, there are many western stars with a song or two that fits the bill.
And then there’s John Denver.
He is perhaps one of the country artists most cemented in Americana music history.
The song that sealed that fate? While it’s hard to narrow down, there is but one song that nearly every single American child can sing to you in full.

That song is “Take Me Home, Country Roads”
A musician named Emily Joy decided to sing an acoustic cover to the classic song.
The outcome is an amazing, must-watch rendition of the John Denver classic.
Emily Joy is originally from Western Australia. She came to the United States to follow her dreams of becoming a country singer.
She also has studied her craft in multiple performing art programs and colleges.
She has not traded in her Australian roots though.
She still sings down under, too.
Emily Joy is not only a singer but a songwriter as well. While she writes her own songs that does not stop her from singing the classics.
Emily Joy’s cover of “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” is simply beautiful.
She sings straight from her heart and it is memorizing to listen to.
She is accompanied by only one guitar. The guitarist harmonizes with her throughout the song and their voices blend amazingly.
It is the perfect duet.
Emily Joy has a voice that shines.
This song is evidence of that. Her voice is so sweet, and you cannot help but feel sentimental while listening, even if you are not from a country road.
Listening to her cover can make any person wish they were on their own country road.
To create the perfect ambiance for their song choice, Emily Joy and the guitarist sing the duet outside on a dirt road.
The sides of the road are covered with bushes and trees. It is the perfect place to sing the classic song.
It is hard not to get lost in the background as they sing about country roads.
They picked the only setting that suits.
The location, while beautiful, was not as easy as everyone would have thought. Emily quietly disclosed a small fear to the guitarist.
“I felt like a snake was gonna come out and bite me.”
If she had any fear, it does not show in her voice.
Her voice was steady as a train.
Emily Joy’s cover of “Take Me Home – Country Roads” has been watched by over three million viewers. Everyone cannot get enough of her soothing rendition. Many viewers have left comments to let her know what they think including these:
“Amazingly simple guitar playing but the real beauty comes from the voice variations. Well done both of you!”
“Angel Emily, your voice warms my heart in the coldest of winters.by the way great synergy from both!”
Emily Joy’s cover of John Denver’s “Take Me Home – Country Roads” is only one of the covers she has uploaded to her YouTube account.
She has twenty-six other covers she has performed. The songs range from classic, pop, and country music songs.
It truly shows her range in music.
While all of her covers are amazing, we’re not sure she’ll ever be able to top this one.
