Picture this scene:
Kevin Bacon, running, leaping and spinning through a dusty warehouse to the sound of electric guitar, synth and 80’s vocals. You know the one; it’s Footloose. The iconic movie has spawned remakes, copy-cats and inspired millions to get up off of the couch and get their feet well and truly loose.
The titular song by Kenny Loggins has been an unwavering reminder of the fun.
“Footloose”, the song is in its own right a standalone classic. One can hardly even say the title of the film without having some of the song’s snappy melody come to mind. The fact that it’s such a popular and endearing rock n’ roll style song with an almost 50’s-meets-80’s sound makes it ideal for parties, especially parties as big and significant as weddings.
That’s where these guys come in!
Wedding Dance Online offer tutorials for a range of dance styles, all aimed at getting you and your S.O. ready for that first dance. Of course, anyone who has ever wanted a rock n’ roll style wedding dance with a twist (…no pun intended) would be remiss without a cracking routine set to Footloose. In this video they show off what they’ve got.
The couple rocking this routine have such talent and chemistry.
Of course, if you’re going to offer a wedding dance, you’d hope to have the choreography reflect a connection between the two dancers. This is very apparent in these two incredible performers. These two have more chemistry than Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.
And they pay homage to rock n’ roll throughout.
A little hip swinging here, a twisting knee there…the whole dance routine is peppered with classic moves, just like you’d see in a milk-bar while Biff Tannen intimidates Marty McFly…wait, sorry wrong movie, right style! Either way, watching these two in their 50’s-esque outfits, you can easily imagine them doing the twist.
How loose can these feet get?
They’re not afraid to make their routine a bit challenging with this fancy swing. The “groom” holds the “bride” under her arms and swings her legs in a circle, all the while stepping over them as she spins like a giant propeller. Hope they don’t take off!
Hope the bride is brave…
No rockabilly style dance would be complete without a few daring dips. Both forward and backward, the dancers work some pretty impressive dips into their routine. They pull them off with style and grace, making it look all too easy.
If their feet were any looser they’d kick them straight off!
Of course, they’re wearing era-appropriate Chuck Taylor sneakers, as they kick their toes in such style that even Mr. Bacon would be jealous of. These two make it seem like a walk in the park to dance like this. The routine itself isn’t altogether technical or challenging, but the moves they do, (and how they do them) make it such a joy to watch.
