Life’s crossroads are often the inspiration for songs.
One of the most famous of those songs is Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” The growing popularity of the song over the past couple of decades has lead to several notable covers.
Everyone from the Smashing Pumpkins to Tori Amos and Paramore wanted the piece of the song.
While all those covers are excellent, we found one filmed in a parking lot that might just leave you breathless.
When “Landslide” was first released, it reached number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The song was released in 1975 and had a lot of commercial success. It was also certified Gold in 2009, with sales of over half a million copies in the United States.
Because it’s so popular, it takes a certain amount of energy and talent to tackle the song the right way.
Foxes and Fossils seem to know the answer because their cover of “Landslide” at The Twisted Taco was viewed 3 million times on YouTube!
As it turns out, there’s a humorous story behind the band’s name that might surprise you.
Originally from Atlanta, Foxes and Fossils take pride in the fact that a group of talented musicians and singers bridges the generation gap with music.
The band consists of three young ladies who sing and four older gentlemen. Foxes stand for the young girls, and the older musicians have nicknamed themselves fossils.
It’s funny when you look at it from the age perspective.
Needless to say, music can bring even the unlikeliest groups together! As long as people you hang out with make you feel loved and appreciated, the age makes no difference. That’s the kind of music they transmit through their songs, and we agree on that.
Another information we’re about to give you will make you feel really warm—Tim Purcell, one of the band’s male members, first began performing with his daughters.
That’s how the idea of bringing the youth into the project was born.
We couldn’t decide what was better—the vocals or the fierce way these guys play their instruments!
There are a lot of covers on their YouTube channel, and we must admit that most of them can match the quality of the originals they’re performing. Maggie and Sammie both have angelic voices and are clearly world-class musicians. Together, they have what it takes to become one of the most popular and highest-paid cover bands ever.
The harmonies are gorgeous, and they could stop anyone dead in their tracks!
We love one important fact—when Foxes and Fossils play, they don’t contaminate or inject anything into the mix. The way they pay respect to the original version and yet own the song is incredible.
The greatest music in the world is often played in the most unsuspecting places.
There’s nothing wrong with this version—it’s superb.
The only thing we have to complain about is that the performance deserves a much bigger stage. Millions of people should hear them live, that would only be fair. However, we are sure that these interesting musicians manage to find ways for their voices to be heard.
Although people call them the garage band, we see nothing but a competent, hard-working band, great at what they do.
These girls have voices that reach and grab the core of you and let’s hope we’ll hear a lot from them in the future.
