It has been almost four decades since The Go-Go’s brought their wave into the music industry.

Though the group doesn’t get discussed as much today, their influence is still felt and many of their songs still remain popular online. As a matter of fact, a certain band in Atlanta has covered a lot of their songs and sang them in live settings, reinventing the group’s vibe with their own voices.

The band in this video is just one example of combining the old and the new.

This Atlanta band is called Foxes and Fossils, and they have intrigued the people with their old-school musical style and unique look.

They are currently comprised of eight members—three girls (the foxes) and five dads (the fossils). Tim Purcell, a former member of the band Mustang, first got the idea of forming a band merging the old and new generations together with his daughter.

After Tim found his band members, they started playing their music on small stages, event stages and even bar gigs.

On one occasion, the band played this awesome Go-Go’s cover.

Almost nine years ago, Foxes and Fossils hit the stage just outside a branch of The Twisted Tacos in Atlanta.

The night was young and they decided to liven it up more with the catchy song “Our Lips Are Sealed,” which is one of the Go-Go’s most successful hits from their 1981 debut album Beauty and the Beat.

The six band members are Darwin Conort, the lead guitarist; Sammie Purcell and Maggie Adams as the main vocalists; Tim Purcell on the acoustic guitar; Johnny Pike on the drums; and lastly, Scott King on the bass guitar. They all stand on the small stage with only a little lighting to illuminate them in the darkness.

After Tim told their drummer to “hit it,” they instantly excited the crowd with their catchy tune!

The song starts off with Johnny’s drums before the rest of the instruments follow to course through the intro.

After they finished looping through their intro, the two young girls sang the verses in unison. Their beautiful vocals were almost too similar—it almost seemed like two same voices layered!

The girls are synchronized so perfectly, and that it’s such a wonderful treat to hear them sing!

Even one of the younger audience members moves his chair nearer to the stage so she can hear the music up close.

While the dads accompanied Molly and Sammie in their singing, the girls also showed off their brilliant harmonies.

It is just amazing how the girls have such immaculate vocal runs.

As Molly and Sammie reached the chorus, they showcased their dulcet tones by singing in sweet harmony. Their mesmerizing vocal blends that you will not easily get tired listening to them over and over again. Moreover, Sammie’s dad, Tim, also joined them for a three-way harmony during choruses and at the end.

With those two girls as the band’s frontline, Tim knew there was potential for the band to get even bigger!

As it turns out, he was right—this video was loaded in 2011 and now these young girls have grown into beautiful and talented women.

The band has also grown bigger after their numerous successes over the years with the help of their shared passion and hard work. You could check more of their music on YouTube, as well as Foxes and Fossils’ website!
