There are few who can rival the talent and energy Barbra Streisand brings to the stage.
But Cora Harkin tried… and she succeeded. And she did so at just 9-years-old.
Cora absolutely wowed the judges during her audition on Ireland’s Got Talent.
And it’s no wonder because she is quite impressive. According to Derry Now, Cora started writing her own songs when she was just 7-years-old.
It wasn’t long before she won her school’s talent show for singing her original sons “Far, Far, Away” on her guitar.
Her other original songs include “Whatever I Do,” “Rebel,” and “Just For You.” Cora attends Fresh Academy and studies under Sinead Crossan.
She won second place in Teenstars Ireland 2017 and was a 2017 finalist in the Opportunity Knocks talent shows.
She also was a runner up in Talent North West 2016 and has performed for charities like Children in Crossfire.
Cora decided to sing Streisand’s “Don’t Rain On My Parade” during her audition for Ireland’s Got Talent judges, Louis Walsh, Michelle Visage, Jason Byrne, and Denise van Outen.
“Don’t Rain On My Parade” is a popular song from the 1964 musical Funny Girl. It was also featured in the 1968 movie version of the musical.
The song was written by Bob Merrill and Jule Styne.
Streisand sang both the stage and movie versions of the song. It was ranked as number 46 in the American Film Institute’s 100 Years… 100 Songs survey of top songs in American cinema.
The song has remained as an iconic in Streisand’s career and was sung live during many of her tours.
The song has been covered many times by famous people like Idina Menzel, Robin Williams, Diana Ross, and Liza Minnelli.
So, it takes a lot of skill and a big presence to pull off this song.
And Cora has both of those things. Her version of “Don’t Rain On My Parade” was the exact definition of jaw-dropping performance.
And she held her crowd captivated for the entire length of her performance.
You’d think that Cora had been singing professionally for decades with the way she sang.
You’d think you were listening to a seasoned Broadway actress. Cora’s performance ended up going viral on the internet and has been viewed by people all over the world. Ireland’s Got Talent judges told Cora she’s sure to have a big career ahead of her.
