Everybody loves a man in uniform. They inspire discipline, authority, and they just look so cool.
They may inspire fear for law breakers and even intimidate random strangers. It is both a blessing and a curse.
So how does a man in uniform blend in with the community he is sworn to protect without scaring the locals? Well just ask the Indian River Sheriff County’s office.
Such a warm welcome for these men in uniform
In typical school assembly fashion, the kids take the stands as cheer dancers with partners begin the “Git up” challenge.Set to Blanco Brown’s “The Git Up”, it is a combination of hip-hop and country music and it is quite a listening experience. It comes with its own dance moves and the internet loves it.
People take videos of themselves dancing to the popular beat then challenging others to do the same. It’s a fever that’s rapidly spread across the country.
Football players and cheer dancers start off the show with their Git Up challenge
They line up with partners in tow and start with a “cowboy boogie” before they grab each other for a spin and dip. They step off the court and from there the crowd cheers in unison. Here come the real men!
To the left and to the right, they point to the delight of the audience. These are their men in black and they certainly get the love.
You have the right to remain smiling
They are the school’s resource officers from the Indian River County Sheriff’s department. And they came prepared to entertain and have a little fun!
After all, why let the kids have all the fun? They were cool long before these kids were. The shoulder roll, the slip and slide, then the lasso spin. Just look at them go!
Deputized to dance
After a few cool steps, some of the football guys join in, sandwiched in between each officer. They slide to the left and right in unison to the jam and to the surprise of the crowd, a pair of T-Rex join in on the fun!
It must take amazing skill to move in those costumes.
Here come the jocks
Talk about taking it up another level! The effect is cool. The faces in the crowd were all smiles, bopping their heads and singing along.
How about those dinosaurs though? They slide and step and jump and spin without tripping or falling over. Give these guys maximum points for the effort!
Even the dinosaurs want the challenge
That’s how you connect with the students! These guys put in the effort to practice and learn the language of those kids and they got the appreciation they deserved.
It must have been awesome to have seen them practicing and planning this with the students. Never mind the bellies.
They’ve got moves you would not believe.
Blanco Brown would be so proud. Chances are he’s seen this too. What a great way to gain publicity. Everyone gets to have fun using your music and they all get the attention too.
It’s obvious from the way the audience erupted that they loved it. They ran on to the floor hugging and cheering each other. What a great performance!
And of course, the officers proceed to challenge another Sheriff’s office. Let’s see it then!
