If you’re in need of a video to brighten your day – look no further. In fact, it might be one that you move to your list of favorites.

The lip sync challenge has been going around for quite some time now. But while some are mostly predictable, the people from the Overland Park Police department had a different idea for theirs.

It must have been a peaceful day at Overland Park, Kansas. PIO John Lacy is just sitting at his desk doing some paperwork when his boredom seems to get the better of him.

Officer Lacy decided he had to wake everyone up.

Imagine sitting quietly doing your work when one of your superiors just suddenly decides to include you in his performance. It might be the stress. Or maybe just rising to a challenge.

It’s a good thing he’s got the confidence for it. Officer John looks up and just belts out the intro to Harry Belafonte’s “Banana Boat (Day-O)”.

What in the world has gotten into the boss now?

Lip syncing of course. But he is so convincing it really looks like it’s him singing! John Lacy has the talent to match his facial expressions to what he is singing and it is hilarious.

He doesn’t shy away from doing funny dance steps either.

Interrupting a meeting, it looks like he asks his colleagues to join him for the day.

“Daylight come and me wan’ go home.”

They toss their papers in the air and with smiles on their faces they stand up and like the Pied Piper blowing his instrument, they immediately follow his song.

It is such a happy and feel-good song you can tell they had immense fun doing this challenge.

How is he just walking into every room and doing this?

It’s so fun to watch it’s hard not to smile and bop your head to the song. And those smiles!

Even the Mayor himself got involved. Officer John is quite a character if he’s able to get Mayor Carl Gerlach and city management in on the performance.

With over a million views and counting.

And they all echo the same sentiments.

“This is the BEST one I’ve seen so far. This guy really looks like he’s having fun. His moves and facial expressions are over the top. He is just perfect! FIVE STARS!”

They’re not wrong.

Officer Lacy has the moves to match his many faces.

He maintains his funny gait and hilarious facial expressions all throughout the video and it never gets old. John proves that not all men in uniform are stiff and boring.

To serve and protect and entertain.

John goes around town and just has a great time with everyone. He seems to be a popular guy if these people find it easy to have a little fun with him. His demeanor never changes and it’s clear his mission was to spread smiles and laughter.

And for whatever reason only known to him, he puts on goggles, snorkeling gear, and flippers for good measure. What a day-o indeed!
