December 10th, 2020

The holiday seasons bring out the best in everyone including this…

As the holiday season draws ever nearer, it’s nice to sit back and enjoy warmth and kindness. But for some, like this officer from Maine, it’s even better to give smiles and holiday cheer.

On a snowed over field outside of an apartment building, this officer stood before an off-camera crowd. You can see hints of stage fright in the officer’s stance and may not be expecting anything spectacular. But then the officer belts out the first lyrics of “Holy Night” and you know you’re in for something special.

As the officer sings, the audience is wowed into silence

The officer has a voice that’s made for radio and brings to mind some of the sweet sounds of classic holiday musicals and films. The familiar sounds of Holy Night fill the air adding so much magic to what would otherwise be just a shot of a snowy yard. If you look, you might even see pedestrians in the background slow their steps as they hear the cop’s musical talent.

The cop’s musical talent is undeniable, but what strikes a chord with audiences is just how focused he is on the music. Even with a full crowd and camera crew watching him, this humble public servant is simply crooning to the music that holiday fans know and love.

It’s really a magical moment.

It’s almost like the whole world stops to pay attention to…

When you watch the video, you’ll notice something else. Not only is the crowd silent and attentive, but it seems like the neighborhood in the background is also giving this officer its full attention. You can just imagine stay-at-home parents standing at their windows, watching and listening to every note the officer sings. Could you blame them from falling in love with this charming moment?

It’s almost as if the world is taking a pause from worrying and stressing itself out, just to enjoy a talented amateur at work. It’s the same sort of feeling that many people get when they hear seasonal pageants or carolers singing on street corners. It’s everything that people love about the holidays, wrapped up in one simple video.

When you hear his high notes, you will…

But then you hear the high notes, which are carried with such power and stage presence that you almost expect to see a full stage behind the officer. If a full band walked in from off-camera, you might not even bat an eye. But this crowd is different.

But this performance is all him. Just one acapella show to delight music lovers in one of the most special times of the year. You can almost feel the crowd wanting to cheer him on.

A cheering send off for a humble performer

As the song comes to a close, the officer holds out the final notes. It’s a classic musical flourish that is a delight to see and hear in the video. But how did the audience react? As it turns out, the audience loves it. They explode into cheers and applauds and claps that brings a smile to the humble officer’s face.
