If you spend much time surfing YouTube, you’re bound to see some pretty incredible things.
When the platform started, it was designed as a place where we could all share our own home videos and experiences with the world.
Although it started off as a fairly humble place, Google bought it and made it a platform with global influence—and major media companies started using it to post content as well! The YouTube we see today is a result of millions of people’s efforts and countless hours of video.
Still, there are plenty of incredible performances and videos still to discover—like the one we’re talking about today.
The clip in question was originally loaded onto the site in December 2017.
The main performer in the video is Conor Maynard, a British singer-songwriter who made a name for himself on YouTube.
Since then, he has signed with Warner Music Group, appeared on television and released a debut album! Although he’s not a household name in all circles, he has amassed nearly 10 million followers on YouTube as a result of impressive vocal abilities.
Although he’s talented all on his own, for this video, he enlisted the help of his sister!
As the video begins, Conor explains that he and his sister Anna will be having a sing-off.
After joking around for a few moments, the competition begins in earnest. With that, the backing track of “Havana” by Camila Cabello starts playing.
As the music starts up, both Conor and Anna bob to the music. First, Conor sings a beautiful rendition of “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson. Although it’s not the same song, he shifts the key so that it fits perfectly with the backing music.
After just one brief verse, he passes the song over to his sister.
Without missing a beat, she starts singing a pitch-shifted version of “Hey There Delilah” by the Plain White T’s.
After that, she shifts right into “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele! Although these songs are all in different keys and have different feels to them, Conor and Anna have adjusted them all so that they flow perfectly together and fit with the backing melody.
In the back half of the song, Conor starts singing “Thriller” by Michael Jackson—and his sister starts singing “Nothing On You” by Justin Bieber.
Needless to say, there’s virtually no song that won’t fit their arrangement!
Towards the very end, Conor sings a heartfelt version of “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys—but the song’s not over!
In all, the two siblings must sing more than 20 songs! At the very end, the two siblings finally land together by singing a faithful version of “Havana” before wrapping everything up. Since the video was posted, it has been viewed more than 57 million times!
Though it goes without saying, both Conor and Anna are incredibly talented singers—but their creativity with that talent is what really makes this so impressive. Even though it was a competition between the two of them, they both supported each other so well—and the real winner is the audience at home.
Congratulations to Conor and Anna Maynard on their awesome performance in this video! Be sure to watch the entire thing in the link below:
