Connie Talbot is a 19-year-old singer from England who’s been entertaining fans worldwide since she was just a little kid.
In fact, her YouTube channel alone has more than 1.74 million subscribers!
If you’ve ever heard how beautiful Connie’s voice is – then you might not be surprised that her online musical performances take people’s breath away. Along with creating her own songs, she’s also covered artists like The Beatles, Elton John, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and many more.
Connie recently uploaded a new video onto her YouTube channel that viewers are “falling in love” with. It’s a rendition of Queen’s classic hit, “Somebody to Love.”
Like countless others across the globe, Connie’s a big fan of the legendary rock group. In 2018, she released a version of another one of their songs, which has racked up more than 15 million views! Connie explained online:
“Some of you may know that I am a HUGE Queen fan. I have already done a cover of one of my favourite’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” so I thought I would do another – “Somebody To Love”. No one can ever come near Freddie, but I hope you like my cover.”
Connie Talbot was only six-years-old when she first captured hearts with her voice and adorableness.
Perhaps you remember, she was a contestant on season one of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007. The little girl walked onto the stage (cute as can be) and sang “Over the Rainbow.” According to Connie’s website, it was supposed to be “just for a family day out,” but the judges and viewers loved her performance. Simon even told her, “You were fantastic!”
Although Connie didn’t take home the BGT crown that season – she placed second and signed a record deal shortly after.
There’s no doubt that she was meant for a life of stardom. Connie’s found success as a music artist over the years and has released multiple albums.
Connie’s come a long way since auditioning as a little kid on BGT. Her vocal talent is incredible and oftentimes she tickles the ivories while singing her renditions.
In the video below, Connie takes on Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” accompanied by her own piano playing. From the moment she unleashes the first line it’s apparent it’s going to be another magnificent performance.
There have been numerous musical artists who’ve covered “Somebody to Love” over the years, which appeared on Queen’s 1976 album A Day at the Races.
We’ve seen vocalists perform the song on TV talent shows and renditions have appeared in movies like Ella Enchanted and Happy Feet. Who can forget when Marc Martel blew everyone away with his at-home audition, where he sounds eerily like Freddie Mercury himself?
It’s one of those tracks that fans can’t resist turning up no matter how many times they’ve heard it. The Story of Song website shares that much of the inspiration for “Somebody to Love” came from Aretha Franklin’s amazing and soulful voice.
By no surprise, Connie’s rendition is stunning.
Her video’s gathered positive comments online such as:
“Wow, Freddy would have loved your cover, either way it gave me chills just how good this performance is, well done ๐๐ป”
Another viewer wrote:
“I’ve heard many artists sing this song but Connie you are definitely one of the best, nicely done.”
