The best thing about singing talents is that you never quite know who has been gifted with the voice of an angel.
From the outside, professional-standard singers generally look just like you and me. You don’t have to be rich, glamorous or even famous to be an incredible musical artist.
Talented singers can be found in the most unexpected places, as this video proves.
It was posted back in May 2015 by Tommi Rose, a YouTube singing sensation who mainly vlogs her life and sings covers of popular songs, like Billie Eilish and Khalid’s “Lovely” and Paramore’s “The Only Exception”.
Tommi also writes and sings her own original songs, and most of her performances are filmed in the comfort of her own bedroom.
But when she met a concierge at an apartment building lobby, she spotted an opportunity she couldn’t miss.
Explaining the moments that had led up to the video in the caption, Tommi wrote:
“So about a month or two ago I was waiting in the lobby of my friend Sacha’s apartment building, for my mom to pick me up, and I heard this guy singing.
He was so good so I told him that he was amazing and he was super sweet and humble about it, and so I told him that I sing too and we talked about that kind of stuff for a while until my mom came and picked me up.”
Tommi continued to explain that a month or two later she was heading back to her friend’s apartment for a graduation party, and on her way out, she insisted that the man sing with her. She wrote:
“Needless to say, he is absolutely incredible, and it just proves that you can find amazing things in unexpected places.”
In the video, the concierge, who is sitting behind the desk at the apartment’s entrance, is belting out the lyrics to Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”.
It’s considered one of the hardest songs of all time, but the unnamed man hits every note perfectly.
His voice is breathtakingly beautiful, amplified by the echoes of the empty lobby.
Sadly, we only hear about 15 seconds of his singing before a fellow employee appears, and the man stops singing and jumps up, obviously worried he’s been caught doing something he shouldn’t.
Tommi jumps in to finish the chorus, and her voice is just as beautiful and angelic.
In the comments, many people wrote that they wished the video could have been longer than a single, perfectly-sang chorus.
Others rallied for the concierge to appear on “The Voice”, with commenters asking for updates on what he’s doing now. Though everyone loved Tommi’s voice, they agreed that the concierge had the strongest vocals.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like the concierge took up the opportunity for YouTube fame, as he’s never come forward to identify himself since the video was posted.
Some people simply aren’t interested in being in the spotlight, no matter how talented they are.
Hopefully, wherever the concierge is right now, and whatever he’s doing, he’s still keeping up with his incredible singing – even if it is in private!
