What does every contestant want when they come out onto the Got Talent stage? Three or four yeses to get through to the next round.
But what’s more coveted?
The Golden Buzzer, of course! Because that buzzer lets you skip towards the live show!

That’s why contestants always bring their A-game to get that golden buzzer.
And there have been Golden Buzzer contestants that have gone on to win the season. Young winners Grace VanderWaal and Darci Lynne won Season 11 and 12, respectively.
Paul Zerdin, a ventriloquist, won in Season 10. Kodi Lee, a blind and autistic singer and musician, won Season 13.
And Brandon Leake won in Season 14 as the first poet in America’s Got Talent.
Naturally, contestants are in it to win it!
And one of those contestants is British comedian Axel Blake, who’s participating in Series 15 of Britain’s Got Talent.
Axel is a property maintenance manager from west London, who is engaged with two children.
He’s been in the entertainment industry for years before he eventually became known as a stand-up comedian.
When Alesha Dixon, one of the judges, asked him why he joined Britain’s Got Talent, he said he had one reason.
His 12-year-old son, Nyron.
“I wanted him to believe in himself, [that when you] put your mind into it, you can make it happen,” Axel answered.
Unscripted hilarity
Right off the bat, even before he started his act, he was already funny, getting genuine laughs from the judges, especially judge Simon Cowell.
He even joked he’d get Simon a new kitchen when he pressed the Golden Buzzer. Before he got started, Simon asked if there was ever a time he lost confidence and almost gave up.
“100 percent. 100 percent, there’s been that time,” Axel answered. “But when you’ve got family who’s looking at you, inspired by you, that’s what keeps you going! My son and my daughter, that’s the reason.”
Now everyone’s really looking forward to his comedic act.
And he was hilarious!
His act was all about what happens to him every day. The first thing he talked about was his love-hate relationship with the tube (what they call the subway in London).
“I love [the tube] when it’s empty, I hate when it’s packed, [and] you’re standing,” Axel started. “Five people fight for the armrest, you ever done that? ‘Oh no, you don’t. This old lady is strong! Have it, have it, just have it.'”
And he didn’t stop there. He even joked about women doing their entire make-up on the tube.
He talked about his pandemic baby who they named Pfizer but he calls her a different name.
He even talked about how advanced the world is now with Metaverse and cryptocurrency. Meanwhile, he’s still marveling at the wonders of the contactless card.
He talked about relationships and the difference between men and women when coming home late.
The judges just loved him!
“A comedy superstar is born tonight on that stage. So funny. You made it all seem so effortless and you’ve got a wonderful, so likeable personality, and everything you said was brilliantly funny and original,” judge David Walliams remarked after his performance.
The best comment came from Simon.
“Well done, Axel, super, super, super confident, the first person who has ever joked about covid and was actually funny,” Simon said. “There’s one thing I have to tell you, though. I… like a granite top… a waste disposal unit. I want 25% off and you get this.”
And Simon stood up to press the Golden Buzzer!
