Tis the season for… clogging?! In case you didn’t know, clogging is an American dance that has roots in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. If you’ve never seen a professional clogger, you are really missing out.

The dances are active, percussive, and extremely fun to watch.

It takes some serious skills to perform the cohesive dance, and the result is a skilled performance that is captivating to watch. The dance is focused on the downbeat of a song and makes you want to clap along!

This is one of the best examples of a true clogging performance.

Kaylee and Lauren Thomas are sisters that compete in the clogging circuit. They have won some serious competitions and are known as a National Champion Duo! In a recent performance, they show why they are some of the best.

The Kentucky sisters are nearly identical on stage, giving a cool symmetry to the performance.

Since there isn’t a lot of information on them, they very well may be twins! Regardless, they start the show with a few quick moves that set the mood. The music and stomping rhythm of their feet creates a powerful atmosphere that makes you want to join in!

The duo spin around and execute dance moves with more than just their feet.

Clogging is way more than just a foot dance! Tap dancing is primarily centered around your feet, but clogging is much more bodily involved. The sisters spin and dance, using their arms as elements in their moves while keeping their feet going simultaneously.

Each time they stomp the ground, you can almost see the camera shake!

Speaking of powerful performances, when they both stomp the ground with their full force, they send a shake through the whole stage! The two of them add in jumps, spins, and stomps to the dance, resulting in a fun and upbeat performance that probably took days to choreograph.

One of the coolest parts of the performance is how they are synchronized.

Instead of having two people doing dance moves on a stage, the sisters mimic each other in almost everything they do. Whether that’s kicking up their heels simultaneously or dropping low, they both mirror the other for an effect that shows how prepared they were for the show.

It really is hard to tell them apart at moments!

With blonde hair and identical clothing, anyone besides their mother (who actually filmed the video) would be hard-pressed to figure out which sister is which. When you add all of the elements together, you get a cohesive dance that is as fun to watch as it probably was to dance!

You can even keep up with them on Instagram!

The sisters don’t have a ton of videos on YouTube, so make sure you follow them to see how they are doing! Both of them are busy in college, but I’m sure we will have a clogging reunion eventually!
