Singing
Garth Brooks And Kelly Clarkson Heat Things Up Singing “Shallow”
Oh my, I think I like this more than the original. I can’t get enough of them singing together.

There are movies embedded into people’s memories because of a featured song. Like Serendipity’s “Waiting in vain” by Annie Lennox, or Pretty Woman’s “King of wishful thinking” by Go West, these films have become much more memorable as a result of its soundtrack.

One for the more modern world is “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. It is from the movie, “A Star is Born“, and this power country ballad features a duet with beautifully written lyrics getting fans all over the world to listen and sing along every single time.

Lots of artists and aspiring singers have covered the song but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to sing.

It requires incredible control and range, something Gaga is well known for. And Bradley Cooper has that country rock star vibe going as he sang it hence giving the song its iconic sound and feel.

If there’s anyone who can match Lady Gaga for each note and range, it would have to be Kelly Clarkson.

She tries it out with Garth Brooks during an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show and considering it was on the spot, it is unbelievable!

The set is definitely Christmas and even Kelly goes on to say that during the holidays, family and friends do share songs and stories. She goes on to talk about Garth’s new album, FUN, and pokes fun at his non-smiling cover photo.

Brooks tells Kelly that he is six feet tall and “all of two-sixty” so that when he smiles, his cheeks and chin blows up. Clarkson laughs it off saying she’s got cheeks too. Both artists agree that they look like a thumb. They’re happy though!

Kelly loves how Garth and his wife sang “Shallow” when it was requested.

Brooks tells the story and goes on to pluck the song’s intro on his acoustic guitar. Eventually, Garth asks Kelly if she wants to sing it to which she agrees with a joking apology to Garth’s wife, Tricia Yearwood.

Impromptu never sounded so good!

“Tell me somethin’, girl
Are you happy in this modern world?
Or do you need more?
Is there somethin’ else you’re searchin’ for?”

Brooks sounds so good, doesn’t he? And to think he didn’t have time to practice.

He gives Kelly a look and she takes over.

“Tell me something, boy
Aren’t you tired tryin’ to fill that void?
Or do you need more?
Ain’t it hard keeping it so hardcore?”

But when Kelly does the chorus, even Garth Brooks is impressed. And so are we! She sounds fantastic!

That’s a teaser of what these two are capable of doing. And if they decide to record a cover, it would really sell! Kelly even jokes with Garth regarding the change in key as Garth’s wife has a different range from hers.

Plus the fact that other singers sing that “in the shallow” part differently. But these two are so good they were able to blend and make it work. Now go ahead and try to sing your own version. See how you compare to Garth and Kelly!
