One of the best things about the internet is that it lets us access all kinds of different cultures around the world.

In our day to day life, we tend to think of the world around us as the only one that there is.

Though there’s plenty to love about your own culture and the music and entertainment it produces, there are so many different kinds of art around the world, each of which has its own strengths and focuses.

Fortunately, sites like YouTube help us uncover all kinds of things we wouldn’t see otherwise.

The clip we’re talking about today was uploaded in September 2013.

It begins with five men standing on the street corner. Some of them are carrying bagpipes while others have huge drums strapped around their waists. Each of them is also wearing a traditional kilt and some of them are shirtless.

As it turns out, this is Clanadonia, a traditional tribal drum and pipe band who have been working together for more than 20 years. Their goal is to spread traditional Scottish music around the globe, and to date, they have credits in movies, radio, television and much more.

As part of their way to build their audience and name around the world, they also do street performances like this one.

A moment after the video begins, one of the drummers raises his hands in the air to beat out the first rhythm.

After that, the other drummers follow suit, belting out a rhythm that builds in intensity. A moment later, the two bagpipers add in their own fast-paced melodies as well.

After that, the camera pans to the side to reveal that there are even more drummers playing this tune! Though it goes without saying, the energy they bring to their performance is intense and invigorating.

Although there are many different drums and different elements to the song, everyone still keeps perfectly in sync with one another.

The performance only builds as it goes on, getting more and more energetic and enthusiastic.

Although plenty of people think of bagpipes as music that is old-fashioned or not all that interesting, Clanadonia show beyond a doubt that it can be just as exciting as anything else.

Towards the end, the song keeps speeding up faster and faster until it finally hits the last few drum notes. When it’s over, the crowd gathered around them gives them a huge round of applause.

Since the clip was put on YouTube, it has been viewed nearly 10 million times!

Still, this isn’t the only Clanadonia performance on YouTube with this kind of infectious energy.

Another video shows them performing at Perth’s city center in 2017. This time, they perform a version of The Last of the Mohicans theme song that they reinterpret their own way. Once again, all the band members stand in the middle of a public circle and start pounding out an urgent drum rhythm. Soon after, the bagpipes join in and add their melody. Before long, the recognizable tune emerges.

Needless to say, Clanadonia is one of the more unique groups out there performing this kind of music! Although their instruments and songs are relatively simple, they stay true to their culture and offer it up to the world in the process.
