If there was ever anything that could make a parent cry, it’s the song “Baby Mine” from Walt Disney’s Dumbo. The song brings back memories of rocking their own babies when they were tiny and it makes them realize how much they’ve grown.
What’s even more of a tearjerker than that? Watching an adorable 6-year-old sing “Baby Mine” with her parents.
“Baby Claire” has been singing for the internet since she was only 3 years old.
Her father, Dave Crosby, thought that listening to her sing was the cutest thing he’d ever heard. So of course, he took a video of her and uploaded it to the internet to share with family and friends.
Except that it wasn’t just shared with family and friends.
Instead, “Baby Claire” went viral, sparking a career for a girl that was barely more than a toddler. Her first video was “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.
“I thought, ‘This is awesome, I’m gonna start a YouTube channel with my daughter,’” Crosby said. “Our first video goes viral. I just posted it on my Facebook wall and we had this crazy experience — she goes on some talk shows and all that stuff and basically our YouTube channel is born. From that, it was just one experience after another.”
Claire might be 6 years old now but she still has a love for Disney.
In honor of the rerelease of Dumbo in March 2019, Claire performed the movie’s key song “Baby Mine.” But there was something special about this performance: she got to sing accompanied by both of her parents.
Claire has appeared alongside her father many times, most notably when they sang “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story.
“That song was not relevant at all, but it was just a song that Claire loved, so we did it,” Crosby said. “Creating the content that we enjoy making, that what Claire’s really into … it’s good music that will touch people.”
But it’s not as common to see her mom on camera.
Mom Ashley accompanies her on the piano while Claire’s dad plays the guitar. Between her parents, Claire is as confident and adorable as any pint-sized performer can be.
One of the sweetest things about Claire’s performance is her look of intense concentration as she sings. She scrunches up her little face and leans in close to the microphone. To her, she may as well be performing in front of an adoring crowd. By the way, she has performed on Ellen as well as Steve Harvey’s “Little Big Shots.” And, with two million subscribers, she actually does have adoring fans.
The most tear-jerking part of the video might be when her father joins in.
Although Claire is now 6 years old, there’s no doubt that he vividly remembers when she herself was his baby. As the song ends, the two of them give one another a fist bump. It’s clear that he couldn’t be prouder of his little girl.
