Claire Crosby is only 5-years-old, but she has a passion for music that is beyond her years.

At only 18-months-old, Claire discovered the piano in her parents’ Provo, Utah, apartment. Upon her discovery, the toddler was immediately entranced, and her parents would often catch her playing different keys and attempting to imitate the notes.

After seeing Claire’s love of music develop over the next 4 months, her father David Crosby asked if she would like to help him sing her nightly lullaby. That’s when Claire immediately shocked him— as she opened her mouth and hit every note.

As Claire got older, her musical tastes become more refined. She adored songs from Disney movies, and, at 3-years-old, “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid became her favorite tune.

“She was singing it everywhere we went,” David told Desert News.

“I just noticed that she had a good little voice for a 3-year-old.”

When David heard his daughter’s adorable rendition of the Disney classic, he decided to record Claire’s singing. He later uploaded it to YouTube, where it has been viewed more than 16 MILLION times.

“It really was just for family and friends,” Ashley, Claire’s mom, explained.

“We posted just because it was so cute and something we wanted to share, but never ever thought— it wasn’t our plan to do a channel with her ever, but it was something that just grew.”

David, who had once been an aspiring musician himself, found Claire had reawakened his creative form.

Together, the father-and-daughter duo would perform Disney songs on YouTube as their popularity continued to grow.

Eventually, Claire and David caught the attention of various big names, including Ellen DeGeneres who invited them to perform on her show— twice.

Since then, Claire has performed with her father David on The Voice, has been featured on the show Little Big Shots on NBC, and, coming full-circle, was featured in a 2018 live-action remake of the movie The Little Mermaid.

Since Claire’s hobby has developed into a bit of a career, her mom Ashley said, “We’ve been really careful to not push her to do songs or put in all this time.”

“The making of the music and the production that David does is the bulk of the work, which he does when she’s asleep.”

“For all that she knows, she sings in the microphone for a little bit and then she’s done.”

Claire’s performances are marked by her pitch-perfect tone and slight vibrato— but above all, the tiny performer exudes pure sincerity and emotion.

She seems to have an innate love for spiritual music and hymns and has also been gaining a following in religious circles.

On a Mormon Music blog post about Claire, a reader commented, “I noticed she is featured on Godvine… was glad to see that Christians of other faith are enjoying her sweet innocence and pure testimony.”

With her progress in the vocal arena, it seems that little Claire is now taking on other musical challenges.

In the following video, you see the tiny, 5-year-old performer playing her very first song on the ukulele— “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”

As per usual, Claire’s performance is top-notch— and I have no doubt she’ll be a superstar by the time she comes of age!

So far, Claire’s rendition has been viewed over 220,000 times, and the discussion section includes comments such as the following:

“You’re so cute I love you you’re talented”

“Awesome job, Claire! You are going to be an amazing musician some day!
Oh what am I saying? You already are!”

“Amazing! Love your voice Claire, so authentic”
