Six-year-old Claire Ryann Crosby likely can’t remember a life before fame.
Born to college sweethearts Dave and Ashley Crosby, the little Seattle resident went viral at only 3 years old.
Claire’s father had always had a passion for music but felt he had to give it up to get a “real” job and support his family. As his daughter grew older, however, he noticed she had an ear for music too.
In an interview with Parents.com, he recalled: “Claire learned to talk at a super young age and we noticed really early on that she could carry a pitch. I remember sometime after the first birthday, she was slamming her hands on our little keyboard in the living room. She started hitting the same note over and over, and then she began to sing the exact same note.”
“I was sure at that moment that she was going to be able to sing.”
One day, while Dave was getting an oil change, Claire started performing in the station’s waiting room. When people pulled out their phones to record her antics, it suddenly occurred to him to post videos of his daughter online. Their first upload was a rendition of “Part of Your World” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
From there, the video exploded. “[The] First video goes viral. I just posted it on my Facebook wall and we had this crazy experience,” Dave told GeekWire. “She [Claire] goes on some talk shows and all that stuff, and basically our YouTube channel was born.”
“From that, it was just one experience after another.”
Since then, Claire’s gone viral many times over, becoming a mini-celebrity in her own right. She’s appeared on Steve Harvey’s Little Big Shots, as well as The Ellen DeGeneres Show numerous times. Since that first video, Claire’s been a very busy (and lucky!) little girl— but somehow, despite her crazy schedule, she managed to record and release this heartwarming Christmas song.
In the video, the adorable 4-year-old Claire sings the iconic Christmas carol “Silent Night”.
The video intersperses scenes of the little girl clad in a lace white dress with images depicting the nativity story, like Joseph and Mary searching for a place to stay, and the three wise men observing the star that guides them to the birth.
It’s a seriously touching addition to Claire’s repertoire, and in the description, Dave writes: “We hope that wherever you are and whatever your troubles might be, that you can stop for just a few minutes and feel the peace the Savior brings. We are so grateful for Him and for this season. Merry Christmas!”
Since being uploaded, Claire’s heartwarming video has been viewed over 5 million times.
“Can I say her voice is welcoming and calm. God bless her, too adorable.”
“She is so precious! Her precious, little heart is such a beautiful image of Jesus and His love for us.”
“Thank you for not being afraid to share Jesus with your beautiful voice! It touched my heart!”
