Both the television and movie industry would’ve been so boring without the existence of this award-winning actor.
He won Best Actor in a Supporting Role during the Oscar Awards in 1979!
And won other 27 awards out of 37 NOMINATIONS!
Ladies and gentlemen, Christopher Walken!
Christopher Walken is a highly respected and versatile actor who has gained a cult following among film fans. He has portrayed iconic characters in movies such as “The Dead Zone,” “Batman Returns,” and “A View to a Kill.”
Walken’s performance in “The Deer Hunter” won him an Oscar and was acclaimed as one of the greatest film performances of all time. He is also known for his memorable cameo appearances in films like “Pulp Fiction” and “True Romance.”
Walken has received praise and admiration from fellow actors like Benicio del Toro, Johnny Depp, and Leonardo DiCaprio. His unique voice and speaking style have been compared to other notable entertainers. Walken rarely turns down film roles, considering each one a learning experience.
However, he did decline a role in “Go Go Tales.” Walken’s upbringing in a diverse neighborhood with immigrant neighbors influenced his speech patterns. His impact on popular culture inspired the stage show “All About Walken: The Impersonators of Christopher Walken.”
And through the years of his career as an actor, he’s proven to everyone that he’s not just a good actor.
He can also dance!
In 1981, Christopher Walken surprised many when he showcased his tap-dancing skills in Steve Martin’s “Pennies from Heaven,” leaving people in awe.
However, few were aware that Walken’s journey in the entertainment industry began as a dancer. He embarked on his dance training at the tender age of three, a common practice among working-class families.
In an interview with Interview Magazine, he shared, “It was quite customary for children, especially those from working-class backgrounds, to attend dance schools.” Walken elaborated, “At these schools, you would learn various styles like ballet, tap, acrobatics, and even singing.”
A tap dance master?
During his childhood, Walken extensively studied tap dance and even embarked on musical tours. He had the opportunity to dance alongside a young Liza Minelli, and the experience left a lasting impression on her. Minelli shared her thoughts with Entertainment Weekly, stating, “Having grown up around dancers while watching my parents create musicals at MGM, Chris reminded me of many talented dancers I encountered. He possesses talent in every aspect.”
Craig Zadan, the Executive Producer of “Peter Pan Live!,” echoes Minelli’s sentiments. Zadan expressed his belief to Entertainment Weekly that had Walken been active during MGM’s prime era, he would have emerged as a prominent star in musical films.
Walken’s dancing prowess took center stage once again in 2001 when he featured in Spike Jonze’s music video for Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice.” Walken admitted that he seized the opportunity because he recognized that age would eventually catch up with him, saying, “You think, ‘Well, do it now!’ You know, there will come a time when I’m too old to dance,” as he disclosed to Entertainment Weekly.
Walken just turned 80 this year but he isn’t entertaining anything about him retiring just yet. We can’t wait to see him on the big screen again while doing what he does best, of course, acting – and dancing!
