The Barden Bellas girls always knew how to put on a show.
Yes, we’re talking about Pitch Perfect films. The first movie came out in 2012 and everyone fell in love with the all-female ensemble. It’s was a Hollywood success story—so much so, that the second and third parts were also made.
All three became hugely popular and warmly received by critics.
It’s not unusual that many choirs still find inspiration in the story. The 2017 finale of Acapella Academy at Gondwana National Choral School at the Sidney Conservatorium of Music is an amazing show you’ll probably want to see more than once.
Naomi Crellin did the arrangement.
It’s more than impressive to see a whole school on stage performing a medley and doing it very well.
Credits go to Naomi Crellin, an Australian musician who completed the arrangement process. Crellin graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice from the Elder Conservatorium at the University of Adelaide. She’s been a member of many choirs, orchestras, and ensembles, and plays several instruments, including piano, cello and oboe.
No wonder her students display such a talent, they have a wonderful teacher to look up to.
In 1996, Naomi won the Young Australian Composer of the Year Award. Then in 2001 came the Best Undergraduate Vocalist Award from the Elder Conservatorium.
Today, Crellin lives and works in Sydney, Australia, and her arranging skills are renowned worldwide.
More than a hundred students in this video made their schools very proud.
When you see a huge concert hall full of young, hopeful, hard-working students, a certain feeling of excitement and pride flows through you.
We imagine all the rehearsals they’ve been through and the hours of persistent practice before they climbed up to this level of excellence.
These kids sing like angels!
Together their voices sound heavenly and the beautiful harmony at the beginning of the fourth minute will give you goosebumps. It’s unbelievably awesome. And when they all sang “Price Tag” by Jessie J. It sounded like something out of this world. That’s what happens when students learn how to harmonize and synchronize their vowel sounds. The blend is also amazing.
In the end, they all start clapping together and it’s such a powerful demonstration of togetherness.
The world is lucky to have children willing to put so much effort into music! It always pays off.
We also have to give some massive applause for the beatboxer.
He stole the show!
He beatboxes from the beginning until the end, and we must admit that he carries the sound of the whole choir—not to mention how perfectly he does it.
You got to respect the commitment.
We imagine his facial muscles being exhausted after the whole beatboxing session, but it was worthwhile.
We must say this one more time: props to putting this whole thing together.
It must have been nerve-wracking to perfect the harmonies with so many choir members. We need more opportunities like this one for people to get together and do what they love. The fact that it seems like there are more people in the choir than in the audience speaks for itself.
Since it was posted, it has earned six million YouTube views in three years.
There is just something heart-warming about teamwork, and this is an excellent example of it.
Let’s hope that all schools will follow the example and that more musical talents will emerge in years to come!
