Marie Dallam is a University of Oklahoma professor who thinks of herself as a serious and shy individual. If you were to see her in a viral video though, “shy” and “serious” might be the last description words to come to mind!

Within normal work hours, Dallam really does stay professional. However, she has a silly side as well, which she allows to take over in the evenings as a proud member of the OK City Chorus.

There’s one concert, in particular, where Dallam acted extra goofy on stage. Like so goofy, that footage of her in action has been watched millions of times by people around the world.

It’s a funny holiday performance that earned her the name “Jingle Bell Lady.”

That evening, Dallam was given the important role of being the “bell jingler” during the choir’s fun rendition of “Jingle Bells.” She was also asked to do something else too.

Dallam, who’s an associate professor of religious studies, told InsideEdition.com:

“We didn’t really practice. One of the women organizing asked me to ring the jingle bells and be as goofy as possible.”

So Dallam put on her festive Christmas tree sunglasses and really let loose.

Although the choir members are all dressed in red, there’s no missing the bell jingler. She comes to life with her hilarious facial expressions and moves, showing she’s the master of jazz hands!

Dallam forgot to position herself in front of the choir members as the bell ringer, a reason why she tried to stick out with her moves.

There was no holding her back.

Dallam takes her role very seriously shaking her bells and being as “goofy” as possible. She’s part of a choir that has a humorous tone itself, so really, she was just taking it up a notch. Or several notches perhaps!

She stole the spotlight.

Not only did the crowd notice Dallam’s funniness, but other members of the choir did as well. You gotta give credit to the ladies surrounding her who managed to not burst out laughing.

Chorus Director Mary Rhea told News 9:

“I could see her and the more she got into it, I was laughing and giggling up in front and the rest of the chorus is like, what’s going on over there?”

She expected that only a few hundred people were going to see the performance. Well…

The clip of the comical “Jingle Bells” performance spread around the internet and brought laughter to homes across the globe.

Dallam told News 9:

“I thought, I’m going to do this silly thing for a little concert of a couple hundred people and all my friends, all my sisters in the OK City Chorus around me, so it’s safe, and then it just takes off.”

Although Marie Dallam gets to embrace her silly side in the choir, that evening she really stepped it up. But would she do it again? Absolutely.

She told InsideEdition.com:

“I am not embarrassed, but it is certainly different from my normal persona.”
