The Chinese are usually very slim, athletic looking people. Very rarely will you see an overweight Chinese person, and even if you did, that’s alright since they have really good food. Well, mostly.
Sports and martial arts play a major role in keeping this nation of about 1.4 billion as fit as can be. But there’s another activity that these men and women from the east love.
They love to dance. Love it.
Doesn’t matter how old. Chinese kids to adults and even the elderly will dance when given the chance. And how could they not when it’s been part of a culture that’s been around for so long!
In fact, China has one of the oldest and longest ancient civilizations in the world. We’re talking 4,000 years give or take. They were ruled by powerful families called dynasties and within those dynasties, there were lots of partying.
From the Shang to the Qing dynasty, music and dancing played a great part in the evolution of this great country.
Check out this middle aged man they call “Uncle”. He’s out in what looks like a public park where a group of ladies are having a little fun. Uncle joins them for a fun little dance! He’s great!
This is part of their culture too. It’s usually done for exercise and leisure. They like to gather in public areas and dance together. It’s nothing like the extreme choreographed styles in western nations, no. This is more for breaking a sweat.
It’s done to an 8 count and the moves are fairly simple but with a twist of oriental flair. The gradual sway and turn of the wrist and palms bring you back to ancient China, that is until they start stepping forward and rocking their hips.
Caroline Goss left a comment saying,
“Rhythm is a human trait and crosses all lines of race! Doesn’t matter what nationality you are; you either feel it or you don’t. The uncle in the video definitely has it.”
Uncle just may be stealing the spotlight.
The man is super light on his feet, and when he switches his motions from arms to legs and back, it’s like he doesn’t have limbs. He is so fluid like a flowing river cascading in harmony with nature.
Connie Brown went,
“You Go Uncle you nailed it! Keep on dancing. Love every minute you doing the shuffle dance. Loved how you was shaking your hip too cute.”
The beauty of music and dance once again binding the world together.
Could he be the choreographer? It is quite possible. Uncle moves like he’s been doing this for many years. He is way lighter on his feet than most kids today. Get off those gadgets and dance with uncle!
It’s no surprise that he’s surrounded by women. Any guy that can dance like that surely grabs attention wherever he goes. He’s got a really charming smile too. Keep dancing!
Check out uncle’s very smooth steps below!
