Though it goes without saying, there’s no age limit on great talent.
On shows like American Idol and The Voice, we’re mostly used to seeing fully adult singers and performers showing off talents that they’ve worked on for years.
Still, sometimes there are prodigiously talented kids who have just as much power as any adult. Fortunately, The Voice franchise has created a special space specially for these kinds of talents in their spinoff show The Voice Kids.
Though the show has all the same rules as the regular show, all the contestants are children.
And this performance in particular is truly incredible.
Just like on The Voice, it all begins with a little girl walking out onstage while all the judges’ backs are turned.
After a moment or two, the backing music starts playing and it’s Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire.”
The girl’s name is Chelsea and she’s incredibly young, not even in her teens yet!
After singing just the first melodic line, Chelsea’s voice is powerful enough to make two of the judges hit their buzzers and turn around.
Needless to say, they’re both shocked when they see just how young she is!
Still, the performance isn’t over yet.
Though the beginning of the song was impressive, it only gets harder and harder to sing as it goes on.
Even though the notes get higher and higher, Chelsea’s voice easily rises to meet them. Before long, the whole audience is clapping along and encouraging her.
After that, the third and final judge hits their buzzer and turns around as well.
By the very end, one of the judges very nearly has tears in his eyes. When it’s finally over, everybody gets on their feet and gives Chelsea a big round of applause.
But the theatrics aren’t quite over yet.
When it’s finally over, the judges get out of their chairs and get onstage, bowing to Chelsea!
Even though her audition has clearly ended, they take Chelsea over to the judges’ area and encourage her to sing even more of the song because nobody wants it to end.
When it’s finally done, the crowd roars with applause and the judges introduce themselves to her. With that over with, each one now gives their pitch for why Chelsea should join their team.
One of the judges asks Chelsea (in German) if she would like to be their team leader as well!
As it turns out, Chelsea says that it was her biggest dream to be on the woman’s team—and she couldn’t be happier!
When she makes her choice, she and Chelsea share a big hug before Chelsea runs backstage to celebrate with her family.
Needless to say, this performance shows just how much incredible musical talent a person can have at such a young age.
Although it takes a good ear and a good sense of music in general to sing at all, the song Chelsea chose to sing was particularly challenging as well!
Despite all that, she completely nailed it and bowled all the judges over in the process.
