Cheerleading takes a lot of talent. Many people focus on the flashy outfits and fluffy pom-poms, but a lot of work goes into the best routines, and cheerleaders can often put hours of practice into every performance.
And when you see a cheerleading routine done right, with every performer moving in sync and every movement matching the music, all you can do is stop and stare in amazement!
A lucky audience was greeted to a very special cheerleading performance in a public square. Fortunately for us, the routine was captured on camera and uploaded to YouTube for all to enjoy.
The performance begins with the girls separated into two groups. One group is holding pink pom-poms and dressed in pink outfits, while the second group is wearing blue and has blue pom-poms to match.
One member of each group is inverted. So the pink group has one girl with a blue pom-pom, and the blue group has one girl with a pink pom-pom.
It might seem like a mistake at first, but when the routine gets underway, we see that these girls have planned every little detail of their routine, right down to the colors of their pom-poms.
Sounds of cuckoo clocks start off the routine as the girls line up their pom-poms and create a unique visual effect, opening up the ‘doors’ and letting the final member of their group poke through.
Then, the music kicks in and the routine really takes off!
A dance remix version of The Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean starts to play and the girls start to march, swinging their arms around and lining up in a row, lifting and moving their pom-poms around in a kind of ‘Stadium Wave’ effect.
After that, the girls exchange pom-poms with one another and dance around, before pulling off one of their more impressive maneuvers of the whole show!
They all form together in a circle, with the blue pom-poms forming the outside shape of a clock and the pink pom-poms acting as the hands!
It’s a really impressive moment, with the pink pom-pom girls moving in time to a ticking sound.
This is just one example of how the girls use their pom-poms in some highly imaginative ways throughout their performance.
As the show continues, they carry on wowing the crowd with their rhythmic movements and in-sync dancing.
They never miss a beat or make a mistake, staying totally synchronized from start to finish and even forming the shapes of numbers and letters with their fluffy accessories towards the end.
This is what cheerleading is all about! It’s fun, energetic, lively, and awesome to watch.
The girls finish up by repeating the ‘cuckoo clock’ move from the start and get a big round of applause from the assembled crowd. They deserve a lot of credit for such a super routine and the video has already been viewed over half a million times on YouTube. Check it out for yourself below.
