The world has looked a lot different since entering these times, and we’ve all been trying to adjust to the new “norms.” But now that summer is gone, and fall is upon us – there’s a new set of adjustments.
Previously it’s been the time of year for attending football games, school functions, and enjoying chilly evenings in the stands. Unfortunately, autumn 2020 might not be quite the same as what we’re used to.
We’ve got something to lift your spirits though!
Sure, it may be impossible to turn back the clocks, but for a moment let yourself be whisked away to another time and place. Pretent you’re a guest at the Interlake High School football game in Bellevue, Washington. Get ready for a special treat!
The IHS drill team has a magnificent performance up their sleeve.
Football players aren’t the people who shine during high school football games. Cheerleaders, band members, and other students also contribute to making the events as entertaining as they are. In the video below, the girls from the drill team are the ones captivating fans.
All of the team members take their places with their pom-poms.
Moments later, a funky tune fills the stadium and the girls fly into action. It’s apparent it’s going to be an energetic performance right from the start – but just wait until they switch pom-poms…
The girls sneakily trade pom-poms so each has both a blue and a white.
After they form a circle, the girls lift their arms one by one – creating a neat wave illusion. It’s just the beginning too.
Prepare to be dazzled by their cool moves and excellent coordination.
Drill teams are known for entertaining crowds, and these students do not disappoint! Their routine is exciting from one moment to the next, and the girls appear to perform it flawlessly.
It’s mind-blowing to think about how much hard work and practice they must’ve put in.
Any sport takes a great deal of commitment from the team’s players. This one is no different. In fact, it’s pretty impressive to watch how spot-on each girl has to be with their movements, in order for the performance to come together as a whole.
According to Live About, drill teams have goals such as: promoting school spirit, building self-confidence, developing dance techniques and coordination, and providing entertainment to the community and school.
Do these girls have school spirit? You betcha.
At the end of the performance, they form an “I” on the field for Interlake High School. Who knows, maybe it provided their football players some extra luck!
While we don’t know who won the game that evening – the drill team’s performance certainly gave fans something to remember.
One mom decided to upload her video to YouTube, where it’s racked up over 4.8 million views. People have left positive comments like:
“Wow that was really impressive!! Good job girls!! :-)!”
Someone else simply wrote:
“Omg its amazing”
We’re all waiting for the day when we can be back in the stands, cheering on our favorite teams, and enjoying halftime shows. But until then – at least there are awesome videos like this to make you feel like you’re there!
