Over the years, America’s Got Talent has seen its fair share of young contestants.
These contestants are all adorable, and many are incredibly talented too! In 2017, one of these young contestants blew all the judges away: nine-year-old Celine Tam from Hong Kong.
When Celine entered the stage, all the judges were excited. Mel B. asked the little girl’s name and age, and then she asked what Celine was she was going to do. Celine excitedly told the judges she was going to sing.
Then, the judges asked if Celine had any siblings. She said she had a little sister named Dion! Just like that, it was clear where Celine had gotten her name from.
The judges then asked when Celine learned she could sing. It quickly became clear that a theme was emerging:
“When I was in the car, my dad was driving and then suddenly I started singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and he was like, ‘wow.’”
By that point, it was pretty obvious what song Celine was going to sing. But the judges still asked her—sure enough, she said “My Heart Will Go On.”
The judges laughed—while they thought Celine was cute, it was clear they weren’t expecting much from her audition.
The music started, and Celine began singing. It was immediately clear that she had a great voice!
When Celine reached the song’s famous chorus, she showed off the full power of her voice. She belted her heart out as she sang, “You’re here, there’s nothing to fear!”
The judges all smiled as they watched her. Simon, in particular, had a huge grin on his face. He was amazed that this big voice was coming from this little girl.
After Celine finished, she got a standing ovation from the judges and the audience. She easily moved on to the next round!
Celine also got another huge prize: Celine Dion herself saw the performance and was impressed. She invited Celine Tam and her family to join her in Vegas.

Celine continued doing well in the competition. In the Judges Cut round, she sang Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You.” Judge Laverne Cox loved her performance, and she gave the little girl her golden buzzer.
Celine also did well in the quarterfinals—she sang Whitney Houston’s and Mariah Carey’s “When You Believe” and got a standing ovation from Heidi Klum. Unfortunately, though, Celine was cut from the competition in the semifinals. While she did do a great rendition of Moana’s “How Far I Go,” she didn’t get enough votes to move onto the finals.
In the two years since she was on AGT, Celine has continued performing.
Celine auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent, but she didn’t make it onto the live show. She then performed on Little Big Shots with another talented young singer, Jeffrey Li. They did a duet of “You Raise Me Up.”
Celine is eleven now, and she still loves singing more than anything in the world. She regularly performs at benefits in Hong Kong. She also has a YouTube channel where she shares videos of her covers. We’re sure Celine is going to have a great career!
Celine is an amazing young singer who completely shocked the AGT judges with her Celine Dion cover. If you’d like to see her performance, check out the video below.
