Once in a while, we get a little reminder of someone we deeply respected and looked up to and what we miss about them. Whether it’s a dad or a friend, that little moment of awe as we are swept away in a floor of memories is something that can’t be beat! In one video, we see something just like that happen to a singer that everyone knows; Céline Dion!

A video of Céline Dion reacting to a Canadian singer was released and quickly went viral.
Marc Martel is a Canadian-born singer (same as Céline Dion) that is known for his amazing voice. Although his voice is incredible, it’s not its uniqueness that Martel’s voice is known for, but rather its similarities. Martel has a voice that is eerily similar to that of Freddy Mercury! In fact, his voice is so similar that they had him perform for an event known as “The Ultimate Queen Celebration”. Even more, Martel has performed on American Idol alongside the remaining members of Queen. It’s safe to say he knows what he’s doing!
On his website, it says:
“Long before his YouTube videos went viral, spawning an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and a performance with the surviving members of Queen on “American Idol,” Marc Martel spent 13 years recording and touring the globe with Canadian rockers Downhere.”
Attending that event, of course, was Céline Dion.
In the video, we get to see her reaction to Martel when he starts singing and it’s truly remarkable. As the piano starts playing and Martel walks onto the stage, we instantly know what song it is: Somebody to Love! It’s only 7 seconds into the video before Martel causes Céline Dion to break down into tears.
With a few notes and not a single word even being sung yet, Martel has already proven just how similar he sounds to the rockstar himself!
As Céline Dion hears his vocalizations, she lets out an “Oh my God” and immediately stands up from the shock. Dabbing her eye with a napkin, she is clearly taken aback as she feels the full force of emotion that comes from hearing the voice of someone who has passed on, especially someone she knew.
Marc Martel continues singing along with his BGVs (background vocalists) and is REALLY shocking the crowd.
Through the little vocal inflections and slight pitch changes, it’s clear that Martel has really mastered the sound that Mercury is known for. Although Martel has his own music, he may have an entire career waiting for him as an impersonator!

Running his voice down and then up for a final reach, it’s truly as if we are listening to Freddy Mercury himself. Stepping off the stage, Dion and Martel embrace. It’s an emotional moment for the woman who knew the man the entire celebration was about!
