Celebrities have a love and hate relationship with the press. The media only care about what’s going on in the lives of the famous, even intruding and violating personal space for the latest stories.
Gossip and rumors abound and while some celebrities react to such stories, some just don’t care at all. Meet some of the stars who just ignore public opinion on how they live their lives.
Jamie Cullum and Sophie Dahl
You know that “guys should be taller” standard? It has to be outdated, since height has nothing to do with love.
Similar to age just being a number. And no couple proves this point like Jamie Cullum and Sophie Dahl.
Cullum is a singer and songwriter while Dahl is a model and author, and both are pretty famous for their work.
Dahl towers over Cullum by about half a foot.
Dahl did say this about their height difference, “I think if we were both slightly more neurotic people, it would be crippling, but the fact of the matter is that we’re both happy. It’s cool.”
Rhea Durham and Mark Wahlberg
Mark Wahlberg can be intimidating thanks to the roles he takes on. He’s starred in gritty films, like “The Fighter” and “The Departed”.
He even had careers in rap, producing, and business.
But the action star seems tame next to his wife, who is an inch taller than him.
Durham is a model, but the height wasn’t an issue for the happy couple.
Wahlberg and Rhea enjoyed their long courtship, so they decided to get married eight years later.
David Hasselhoff and Hayley Roberts
Hasselhoff had married twice before finding his current love, Hayley Roberts, in 2011. The model is 27 years younger than the famous actor.
The couple made things official in 2017, with an intimate wedding ceremony in Italy.
Hasselhoff and Roberts have a home in the Hollywood Hills, rumored to be in the same neighborhood as Justin Bieber and the Kardashians.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
The British-American couple made waves thanks to their exit from the Royal House.
Prince Harry no longer wanted the limelight of the Royal House so he took the unconventional path, pursuing the love of his life.
A life of fame and cameras in their faces all the time had the couple instead wanting to live a normal life with their children.
Prince Harry chose an average life which is why he and Markle took drastic changes to be happy.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard
These two are always there for each other in both love and comedy.
They began dating in 2007, and three years later, announced their engagement.
Known for airing out their dirty laundry, this couple have shared about terrible fights they’ve had, while also refusing to be referred to as “couple goals”.
They say their relationship, like all others, is far from perfect.
Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Thomas
Yoga teacher Hilaria Thomas exchanged vows with actor Alec Baldwin in 2012.
Alec stalked Hilaria in an NYC restaurant, and she fell in love with him the moment they met.
Thomas is in the business of health and wellness, while Baldwin is an A-lister, so it’s hard to tell that they’re separated by a 26-year age gap.
The couple aren’t affected by the age difference as they are very happy together.
Kevin Hart and Eniko Parrish
If you love comedy, then you probably know Kevin Hart. He’s got a huge reputation, even though he’s just 5’4” tall.
Hart is three inches shorter than his wife, Eniko Parrish, but he doesn’t take offense to jokes most of the time.
The actor even makes light of the height difference himself.
He had this to say at a red carpet event, “I don’t believe in doing things to manufacture my body to appeal to what I think people might like.”
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
Cameron Diaz is famous for movies like “Charlie’s Angels,” “Shrek,” and “There’s Something About Mary.”
This towering, blonde beauty is married to a musician who, according to Diaz, makes her life complete.
Nicole Richie was the matchmaker responsible for Cameron and Good Charlotte frontman, Benji Madden.
Cameron said yes to Madden in 2015, even with the obvious height difference. They were engaged for 17 days before getting married.
Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor
Sarah Paulson is popular for each individual role she played during her stint on “American Horror Story.”
In the season dubbed “Cult,” she portrays a lesbian. Turns out that it accurately represents her personal love life as Paulson has been dating actress Holland Taylor since 2015.
Taylor acted in “The Practice” and “Two and a Half Men”, and is 34 years older than Sarah.
She’s old enough to be her mother but the relationship continues to grow and the two are happy together.
Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh
Pharell Williams and Helen Lasichanh were in that friend-zone limbo for two years.
It was first a passion-free friendship with a two-inch height difference, but Williams and Lasichanh were smitten with each other.
“She just stood out,” he says, and it wasn’t just about Helen’s soaring 5’11” height.
After five years of dating, they took their vows. The couple wore unique outfits to their wedding, and are now parents to a son and triplets.
Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves
Some commercials will have you believe that Matthew McConaughey is in a relationship with his car.
But the actor is smitten with his beautiful wife, model Camila Alves. The two met in 2006, and immediately started dating.
He proposed to Alves on Christmas Day 2011, and she said yes to the actor 14 years her senior.
Age doesn’t matter especially when they both look ridiculously good. The stars are still happily married to this day.
Elton John and David Furnish
Music icon Elton John and his filmmaker husband, David Furnish, were some of the first vocal personalities behind civil partnerships in the UK.
They made it official in 2014, legalizing their marriage after being together for almost two decades.
They are separated by a 15-year age gap, meaning they had two different fights when it came to public opinion.
Amber Tamblyn and David Cross
Tamblyn and Cross met on an airplane in 2007, when he asked to be sat next to the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” actress.
By 2011, they were engaged, even with a 20-year age gap between them.
The couple welcomed their daughter Marlow in 2017.
And though there’s been media criticism about certain remarks Cross made, Tamblyn still stands by him.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner
Joe Jonas was a member of the boyband The Jonas Brothers, and like many child stars before him, had a whirlwind of romances before finding the one.
None of his past girlfriends were able to sweep him off his feet like “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner did.
Jonas stands at 5’7″ and Sophie is 5’10”.
They began dating in 2016 and even with a three-inch height difference, they still tied the knot.
Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster
Rock legend Rod Stewart has sold more than 100 million records over the course of his career.
It was in 2007 when he met his third wife, television personality Penny Lancaster. The rock star put a ring on it.
Fans were heartbroken, but Penny and Rod found something special even with the age gap between them.
The age difference is a substantial 27 years, and though many female fans are disappointed, Steward and Lancaster remain happily married.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
Another couple where the girl is taller than the guy. Kidman is 5’11” and Urban is 5’10” but these two are so lovey-dovey, even in public.
During interviews and on red carpets, the couple always steals the show with how sweet they are.
After her divorce from Tom Cruise, Kidman gave love another try, finding and marrying country singer, Keith Urban.
Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond
It’s hard to tell the height difference between two people when it’s just a few inches.
That impression holds true for Tina Fey, who is taller than Jeff Richmond by just 3 inches.
But when Fey wears pumps, Richmond ends up looking like how she likes to describe him. Travel size.
The couple got married in 2001, but ever since they met in 1994, they have been working together to produce films and television shows.
Fey and Richmond’s breakthroughs in the field of comedy include The Second City, 30 Rock, and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso
Many celebrities like to stick within their circles but Matt Damon is different. He went for someone outside of the industry and that’s how Luciana Barroso fell into his life.
He was in South Beach when friends dragged him outside for a few drinks.
That’s where he found his wife tending the bar they were in.
There has been some judgement seeing as he’s famous and she wasn’t, but the couple have too much fun together to care about what others say.
Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz
A common theme among celebrity couples is that at least one of them is good-looking.
But for Heidi Klum and her guitarist partner, Tom Kaulitz, they steal the spotlight everywhere they go.
The former supermodel has a 16-year age difference with him.
She said that they’re so in love but admits that they get questioned about the age gap often.
