A woman’s wedding day is one of the most memorable days of her life. It has to be special and if possible, perfect from beginning to the end of the day.
One woman’s wedding day was made even more unforgettable when someone graced the event and even photobombed her photo.
Grace Gwaltney, together with her bridesmaids, was having her photo taken in downtown Pittsburgh when a familiar and famous face suddenly came to view. It was none other than actor Tom Hanks!
They were having a fun time photographed by photographer Rachel Rowland when the famous Hollywood actor surprisingly joined in. In the photos shared by Rachel, Tom Hanks’s wife Rita Wilson also photobombed some of the pictures.
Rachel recalls the moment Tom hanks appeared in her view behind the camera.
“When it first happened we were all confused and it didn’t click for a second. Most of us stared quietly for a second. Then we all erupted in screams.”
Who wouldn’t scream if you suddenly saw Tom Hanks in the flesh, right? His personality shines through, and he is as kind as people expected him to be.

It was a surreal moment for the bride and her girls.
When the actor started conversing with the bride and her bridesmaids, the group seemed to be a bit unaware that they were face to face with the man who played the iconic character Forrest Gump.
And then, it hit them. Tom Hanks was actually talking to them!
“You always have all of these plans and ideas for when you meet a celebrity and then when you do—especially national treasure Tom Hanks—you really become mush,” Rachel shared.
Tom Hanks was not only joining in the photos. He also made sure everyone was in the pictures, too.
Rachel shared how the actor even helped so she can take better photos with everyone in them.
“He found me and asked me to take a photo with the bride and then yelled for all of the bridesmaids to get off the limo for the photo. He was exactly as you would assume him to be, joyful, funny, loud, and kind,” the professional photographer shared.
She also shared how they all succeeded in asking Tom’s wife, Rita Wilson, to be part of the fun and picture-taking.
“Rita [Wilson] stayed on the sidelines but we all forced her to hop in a few. Then as quickly as it happened he was gone and our day was completely made,” she recalled.
Grace could only describe the whole encounter as “crazy.”
If someone as famous as Tom Hanks graced your wedding and even took photos with you, wouldn’t that sound crazy at all? That would be unbelievable! And Grace experienced it on her very special day.
“He said, ‘Hey I’m Tom Hanks, I’d love to get a photo with you’,” Grace shared in an interview with WTAE-TV Pittsburgh. “I immediately froze and I was just looking around and didn’t know what to do.”
Tom Hanks was in the area where Grace’s photoshoot took place because he was filming for his upcoming movie “A Man Called Ove” set to release in the latter part of 2022.
