Things are heating on American Idol!
The Top 14 are here, after thousands of auditions and the competition is getting narrow, so the contestants really have to deliver their A game.
One singer has really stood out this season, because of her bubbly attitude but unique performance style.
The judges have called Catie Turner “martian” in the past (in a good way) but said that they love how she is true to herself in every possible way.
Catie snagged her spot in the Top 14 on season 16 of American Idol and she isn’t ready to let anything keep her from moving forward.
For her live performance in front of a crowd, she decided to sing “Take Me to Church” by Hozier and boy, did she kill this solo.
This performance was critical in the competition, as it was the first time the audience could vote live after each singer had gone.
American Idol is currently on Sunday and Monday nights, with the Sunday night shows containing performances, while the Monday night shows contain the results.
The Top 10 is made up of six contestants that were voted in by America and four that were selected by the judges after they had to sing again.
It comes as no surprise that she secured her spot on the show and has moved into the Top 10. We can’t wait to see what she’ll sing next!
After Catie’s killer performance, judge Katy Perry said:
“Can I just say, can I just say this guys, whatever happens, I would like to personally sing with you. I don’t know what that looks like in the future. But I think you are exactly as you should be. I personally know what it feels like to read the comments.
Or to look at the Googles and not feel good. Especially when there’s nine great ones and one bad one. My advice continually is don’t scroll down on the comments, you keep giving these haters and job and they don’t deserve one.”
To which judge Luke Bryan chided Catie for looking at comments, as he’d previously warned her earlier this season not to even look at social media. He feared that she might see something that would deter her from her incredible talent.
Catie shouldn’t worry though, as both Luke and Katy think that she could go on to win this season of American Idol.
After Luke’s positive affirmation, judge Lionel Richie had to jump in and add his two cents.
“Listen to what the man’s saying! I am telling you what I love most about you is that you are truly authentic unto yourself. I am telling you, there is nothing else like you.”
